No downtown shuttle? Or are these just the paid remote lot parking shuttles?

Is the convention center lot and shuttle still undecided, or is that the same as last year? I thought it ran pretty well all day. I am hoping my GA tickets include that like last year, also.

Of course, I should have waited until the day before the race and gotten senior citizen, veteran, student, left-handed, single day, free parking, winter solstice, kid under 12, discounts.

I don't think there was a shuttle at the CC last year. It was at Waterloo Park. We had been hearing of one at the CC this year, but now we can't find a transportation plan at all. Parking would be tough around the CC.

I don't know for sure, but it seems like they're just gonna roll with shuttles from their own pay lots closer to the track, maybe because of a smaller anticipated crowd. They canceled the Moore Road contraflow saying they didn't need it anymore.

So if they do this, they're gonna get your money no matter which way you try to get to the race. Very "Bobby Epstein". Or maybe the only truly free shuttle would be the one(s?) from downtown, if there are any.

    Not much info here: http://www.circuitoftheamericas.com/transportation

COTA has finally released its schedule of events for the 2013 USGP:

    Circuit of the Americas

Quality is up to their usual impeccable standards.

Thanks bundas! I might have to take you up on that if my parking pass doesn't come through.

So, between Ferrari Challenge & F1, only 4 hot-lapping sessions Friday, 4 Saturday, & 2 Sunday. Pretty sparse on the action.

With only 3 weeks to go, it's possible they could announce another series, but it's pretty damn late. Now I guess we know why they put off this announcement for so long.

Why have more than one when you can charge 'em for a second event?

We'll be in Austin and we'll have wheels, I wish we had enough info that we could nail down our own plans. We'd be happy to offer Fchatters a ride out to the track (especially with the cluster**** that is the shuttle), but we're caught in limbo ourselves.

I'm hoping that all this bull will be forgotten once my butt is in our seat :)

We took the shuttle from the Travis County Exposition Center (not convention center - my bad). I do not know if that shuttle plan will be the same or not. Would be nice to find out. The only thing I can find is "The recommended transportation to COTA is by the official shuttle bus network operated by COTA in partnership with the City of Austin, Travis County and Capital Metro." But is it part of my GA ticket? Seriously, COTA, why do we have to pull teeth to find out the plan?

Yep...and that quote is from the outdated 2012 transportation info from the COTA experiences website.

I'm guessing the plan isn't out because it's not yet final (amazingly), or there's news in it that they don't want to release any sooner than they absolutely have to, or both.

Lots of people are asking us about this & talking about it on our page. Now COTA is apparently telling people the tickets will be mailed out "in the next week or two".

Our neighbors in Montreal must be laughing at the clowns in Texas trying to run a GP: tickets are being sent way ahead of the race and public transportation is permanent and quick

    This ain't rocket science.

My Canadian GP experience was one of the best of all my experiences attending a sporting event. Best by far for logistics.

These guys here in Austin are a f'ing embarrassment.

OBTW they're also telling people to "expect more soon" re: support races. So with 3 weeks to go they're still trying to line up support races?

So with 3 weeks to go they're still trying to line up support races and are saying they'll mail tickets in the next week or two?

    Oh my.

    re: shuttle service.
3 weeks to go, and I don't know how I am getting to the track? COTA, please don't ask why I am not coming back.

Can someone clone Big Tex and put him at the COTA HQ?

I gave you the four Pay Lot shuttles.

Yes there's ONE shuttle from downtown, and it's moved, from last year.
    Expo Center is not used.

They have a lot more on site parking now, the Volunteers are parking across the road, but adjacent to Track property.

Go with official info I'm just trying to help from my Info Packet.

I think Ticket sales are tracking last year pretty closely if not higher..120K on Race Day my guess...

There's apparently a pretty big lot they use for their own equipment storage.

They were mentioning it'll become a VIP Parking and lead from Turn 4,5,6 bridge back to Grand Entry area...

    I'm actually WAY underemployed right now...:D :D :D

But, they want someone with Professional Sports experience, and apparently RACING experience would count against me.....also, I've built tons of multi million dollar projects during my lifetime.

    Why would they want that??

I DID tell MiJack I'd help in Houston next year, if they need me.

I'm not doubting you. Just wondering why they won't go public with info they've already sent out to some customers. They were still taking public input very recently on the transport plan, so it couldn't have been final then. When did you say you got this? Also, that's pay lots, right? We're wondering if there will be any free lots. I noticed you didn't quote them on the downtown/convention center lot...just the ones closer to the track. What did they say about it?

There's no more on-site parking this year than last. Those employees & volunteers parked across the road last year as well.

As for the ticket numbers, I'm guessing someone from COTA sales told you that, right? We're hearing a very, VERY different story. If the sales were going well I can't imagine why they'd continue to run these ticket discount specials for weeks on end or why none of the temporary GSs are sold out.

Yes, pay lots, even the renegade lots outside COTA control, you'll pay.

I went to Orientation about two weeks ago, September 25th..

That's not a change either. I hope they weren't telling you that it was. That lot was full of cars last year.

Sure, but not nearly as much.

What so many people are wanting to know, though, is if there will still be a complimentary shuttle option from downtown.
