Well, he is the Mayor. Last time I checked, he was running opposed here. Perhaps you'd like to throw your hat in the ring?
If you watch the video posted in #1051, Jay Leno clearly states that he doesn't like the modern era Ferrari's because you can't work on them yourself in your own garage as everything seems to require a computer expert to get it fixed. He then states that he doesn't like the Ferrari's from the 70's onwards because, in the USA they were forced to carry all manner of safety and environmental equipment such as massive ugly bumpers front and rear, side-impact bars that increased the width and weight of the doors, air-bags, power strangling smog equipment, etc., etc. He does however state that he likes Ferrari's up to the mid-60's because their designs were not compromised by safety requirements and every thing on the car was basically analogue and you could repair it yourself. As for him not owning a Ferrari? - Hey! - I like the original classic Mini but that doesn't mean I have to own one!
The Big 3 American manufacturers and the imports have been trying to satisfy JD Powers and NHTSA for 30+ years. I don't think Ferrari/lambo/Aston even care and odds are JD Power does not have enough data to forward to them anyways. I personally think JDP is a pain in A** and management prefer to listen to them (at any cost) over the field or the network, the good thing is the average car built today is soo much better quality and the sales process is now clearer for those on the floor. I remember the 70s/80s where cars were rusting in the showroom, bad gaps, bad paint and sales staff just sitting at their desk waiting fot the customer to pay full retail (often more) for new/desirable models. Maybe F is still in that mindset!
I was invited to an Aston Martin show not to long ago. When I was there I noticed a guy in jeans white Nike's and a t shirt while everyone else was in Suite. Turns out hes a Multi Billionaire and their best customer. Everyone no matter what they are wearing is worth the time of day to talk to.
Doesn't like modern Ferrari's but has a new McLaren and Vette. Doesn't like '70s but has many GM cars from that era. Like 60's Ferraris but has none.
seriously. The people who know they have nothing to prove are often the ones you should pay the most attention to.
+1 I know a multi multi millionaire that drove a k-car for years. A lot of people that meet him have absolutely no clue as to what he owns.
I think there is a way to insure multiple vehicle collections. There is a guy I met in Ontario that has about 50 cars all insured and drives about 3 a day to keep them all in good order. There has to be some kind of policy or the cost must just be astronomical.
I looked into this several years ago in California. At that time I believe you could "post" $250,000.00 with the DMV and be self insured for as many cars as you owned. I didn't get past that point and into any of the details. I'm guessing you could find the info online. Cheers,
Form another forum a poster there stated Leno wanted to buy his car but wanted a (special) good deal (cause he was famous)
definitely... there are policies available for owners of multiple cars who want to drive each one whenever... the "on road / in use " portion of coverage is limited to the owner ( or designated drivers ) being the only driver using the car on the road... the exposure is limited only to the car in use, which would be the same as having one daily driver...
I think a we need a "Why in the hell does Jay Leno wear a denim shirt with denim pants every dam day of his life?" thread.
I'm not a big fan of most of Leno's cars. He likes odd stuff (some butt ugly) that he and his his crew can wrench on. Ralph Lauren on the other hand has nothing but class, style and art in his collection. From the Jags, Buggatis, Alfas and Ferrari's....stunning rolling art. Jay Leno drove a Countach as a daily driver years ago. He loves Lambos...Last time I saw him he was driving a Fiat Topolino. Muira in back of Countach... Image Unavailable, Please Login
People are just too hung up on celebrity. How bout a "Jay Lenos ok I'm ok" thread. And if that won't work how bout a "Leno is a d*****bag for not liking my car" thread.
Same reason he wears a suit while presenting the Tonight Show. It's his "now I'm doing car related things" uniform.
I hope Leno comes on here and posts that Ferrari is awesome and that he has several now on order. That way all the insecure owners will feel good about their Ferraris again and kids will tape their shredded posters back up on their walls.
As I say, I like the classic Mini but I don't own one! (even though I could easily afford one, just like Jay Leno could easily afford a vintage Ferrari!)
IMO Leno IS a car guy, while Lauren is not. Lauren is more an artist so the cars have to be beautiful first and foremost. Leno appears to like an engineering challenge, hence some of his weird and wonderful cars. Not sure why we are cr@pping on Leno, completely unnecessary. So he doesn't like Ferraris ... who the **** cares! Honestly! There are lots of car guys and girls that don't like or want Ferraris, but they are still good people. Are some of us related to Hitler or something Pete
