If they bothered to bring an helicopter to film the movie, I guess that they pretend to do something more complex than the "gopro" stuff that Porsche did.

One would think. Then again, if you need to stitch together a bunch of fast segment times run on different laps....

That could never be deemed "official".

No knowledge of when they are planning any official announcements but historically McLaren have done their bigger news releases at 8:00am (UK local time) on Tuesdays. This gives the news a chance to churn through most of the week, getting picked up by other blogs/social media/websites/forums/etc while people are paying attention to their computers.

As I said elsewhere though, they are certainly not beholden to a bunch of overly antsy message forum jockeys. When they are ready to tell the world what they have done at the Ring, I am certain we will all have trouble missing it. ;)

Seems like McLaren are struggling with their P1 Ring time nearly as much as they are with their P1 sales...

That's how it looks for all three hypercars. Since this demand can't be met by more production, then either other automakers are going to fill the void, or Ferrari, McLaren, and Porsche are going to have to come out with new top-of-the-line models much sooner than in the past.

I could never figure out why Chevy, Ford or Dodge never make a full fledge effort to compete in this price range. They are very capable put don't wish to enter this market. ???

I quote from Rennteam member "Whoospy":

"Just came back from the grand opening of my local Porsche dealer's new place."

"Had a VERY interesting conversation with Bernhard Maier, and Alexander Pollich, President and CEO of Porsche Cars Canada and a few other big wigs. They are still testing the 918 at Nardo last week, Bernhard had a drive there."

"Summary: 887 doesn't always equal to 887. 6:57 also doesn't equal to 6:57. There are a few cards still up the sleeves. About the best I can describe as there is no official word out yet."

I see no need to attack you for expressing your opinion. So here's mine.

Something is making it hard to design an attractive front for these supercars. Whether it is the P1, LaFerrari, or 918, their front views are their worst and they seem discordant with the rest of the car.

    Fire away.

    Really...?

I know you are a big proponent of the McLaren P1 here, but that sort of comment has no place in the discussion.

Front design is constrained by how you want the aerodynamics to work and if you want an aesthetic change that is not ideal for drag/downforce then you have to sacrifice somewhere. That said the looks of many of these cars are attractive (or not) in the eye of the beholder.

Personally I like the F70, P1 and 918. Could I nitpick a few things here and there I would change? Probably but all minor stuff. No deal breakers when you weigh the entire package inside and out.

Maybe so. I like the styling of all three cars ex the front. The beak of LaF looks the most uncomfortable to me, but I really like the rest of the car. And the P1 seems to me to be what the 12C should look like, again excepting the front.

But all three represent the distinct themes of their maker.
