The speed of these things is just immense, as can be seen with the GoPro/mic shots taken here. This was at Eldora Speedway in Ohio. A lot of times, cars don't look like they're going fast on video, but this is an exception.

All engine, little to no weight, a ton of aerodynamic keeping them glued
to the dirt, they take off like rockets.

Saw sprint cars on dirt as a student in Daytona Beach a couple of times, it
    was quite a show.

It takes a rather large "sack" to drive these things. Gary Bettenhausen was one of the guys I loved to watch in these. No wings on them, but that man could drive one. USAC sprints are some of the best races period. Same for the midgets. Swindell, Kinser, etc......these guys are real race car drivers.

    agree.

if you call yourself a race fan and have never seen sprint cars on dirt...you're not a race fan IMO.

    do it at least once.

That's why I am so disgusted with Indy Car. I loved going to the Sprints and the Little 500 before the big race. You got to see who the drivers really were. I remember Al Holbert telling of going deep into turn one at Indy with Gary B next to him........Al let off. Any questions? :D

Sprint cars are said to be the ultimate adrenaline A ticket ride.
There is a 305 spec motor series here in TX that I occasionally day dream about doing.
Supposedly fairly reasonable (at least compared to road racing) and the resale values are good.
Two sets of tires per year.
    Hmmmmm...

If you think the pricing of a sprinter is low...try a midget. They are the best "bang for the buck" in racing. Same on resale. Great way to get into racing and a lot of fun. I loved working on them because they were so simple and tough. They would take a beating and keep on ticking.
