Some locals I talked to wished the roads had never been paved. Alaska actually keeps them up pretty well but the Yukon Terr does not.

    They require constant work.

Is this the same for the 328? Hill over SKF?

The current production SKF bearing for the 308/328 are junk. They are not the same good ones we used to get that everyone complained about.

Hill is the only good product at this time for that application,

Also for 328. I installed the Hill bearings last year on my '85 328. But how good they might be, I will replace them in three years along with the belts.

FWIW when I bought my car, the belts were 13 years old. I did test drive it that day, but knowing that fact meant I really took it easy on a car that wasn't mine yet. Despite the owner telling me to get on it! Needless to say I had everything done immediately after purchase, and have enjoyed the peace of mind ever since. I will drive it anywhere on a minute's notice, and I have. It's been the most reliable car I own.

Those new belts have 3.5 years and about 6k miles on them now, and they will be changed next spring along with the bearings and whatever else should be done. Excessive maybe, but fairly inexpensive therapy that means I can jump in and hear that 7500rpm howl any time I want.

I would have never thought my 308 would be the 'go-to car' in my driveway.

A few years ago, all my Detroit cars died with in a few days of each other, my Dodge Truck diesel injection had died and I was waiting on parts, my Yukon was at Chevy getting a new fuel pump, and I chewed up the spider gears in my Jeep.

The good news was I got to drive the Ferrari to work for a week straight while I concord the Detroit mess.

I think tri power ended in 66. But yes, it needs to be a 389 or even 421 with a 4 speed. Not a show car, just something nice to drive. Its what she learned to drive a stick in.
