    It had been in Mexico since new, but as there was no Porsche dealer at the time, so the car had to be bought in some European country and then brought to Mexico, Im not sure where they bought it originally.

    Perhaps it was sold through a dealer in Italy. Many older Ferrari are stamped DGM by the chassis number for Direzione Generale Motorizzazione. Don't know what the official policy was/is for Italian and other manufacturers selling in Italy, or what sort of requirement existed. I will check Georg Konradsheim's RS book to see if it is mentioned.

    Another photo of the production 1975 930 at the 1975 24 Hours of Le Mans. Appears to be on BBS wheels for the race. I wonder if this 911 turbo is a survivor.

    nice vid. interesting at around 2:20 he said he is looking for a 77 and it will be the most difficult one to find as they were never officially imported into the US.

    Here is a picture of the VIN plate on my '75 which also has the DGM designation, this car was delivered in Hong Kong so I dont think it has a relation with Italian delivered cars.

    Very cool…so an ACR cassette player was an option perhaps mounted below the ash tray? I noticed a plastic cap on the back of my Blaupunkt Köln so perhaps this is where an optional cassette deck plugged in?

    I like the vintage operation of the Blaupunkt auto radios. The Köln is interesting in that the radio band sweeps and stops on radio stations to the right and then sweeps and stops on radio stations while moving to the left. My ’79 930 Blaupunkt auto radio sweeps and stops on radio stations while moving only to the right and then re-sets to the far left of the frequency range.

    I haven’t found an operating manual for the Köln and have been unable to determine what the small buttons functions are…any ideas?

    1975 930 Turbo, 9305700014 at the September 1974 Paris Motor Show. When this January 1975 Road & Track article was published, Porsche was still planning to build 500 930’s for homologation purposes IAW FIA’s 1975 Appendix J of the International Sporting Code to qualify for Group 4 racing.

    “To start with, Porsche intends to make a series of 500 of these cars, for which an approximate price of 65,000 DM ($26,000) is given and for which they have a surprising number of customers already waiting. Adding very expensive cars to their range, on which they can make a substantial profit, is probably the best way for manufactures of high prestige to at least partially offset what they have lost through reduced production – about 40 percent in the case of Porsche.”

    I am looking at this 76 located in France.
    So I am wondering, it seems to be a RoW car (turbo, not turbo carrera badge, blinkers, etc.). Does anyone know if the sticker on the drivers side b column inner door frame (where it says non-catalyst on my 77 US Turbo Carrera) which is clearly missing was a US version only thing? Seller claims original paint..

    And as far as those Recaro seats go, have these ever been an option, or a dealer option as someone on Pelican suggests?

    I see lots of mistakes, but for the price it would have been a steal if a genuine 1975 (of course its sold), engine looks not too molested (at least no intercooler added) - does anyone know about this car?

    I’m slowly returning the car to stock and my next major project is to have the passenger door mirror removed (holes metal filled with a door repaint) and driver’s mirror re-installed (still have the original mirror). I plan to leave all the ANDIAL mods since this may have been the first 930 that they worked on in the spring of 1975. In the end, it should appear exactly the same as the Porsche promotional press photo of the silver 1975 930 Turbo at Weissach (non optioned A/C and optional sunroof). I had thought that the promotional photo may have been of a preproduction ’75 930 but I think that is unlikely since it is equipped with a sunroof and does not appear to have cross drilled brake discs. Additionally, it appears to have a “25 Years Driving in its Purest Form” rear window decal that may have been installed on all 1975 production 930’s when they left the factory.

    How do the 930 owners prefer to modify these cars? Do people usually upgrade suspension and/or brakes or are they sufficient by relative modern standards? Are they easy to extract more power from with modern parts?

    I have always regarded the 965 3.6 as the ultimate Turbo (IMHO!) but these 930s have had my attention lately. We have a 30 year rule here which allows much cheaper car import and also significantly lower annual taxes, making a 930 a very good purchase value wise. I am aware that these are old cars where parts will need replacement every now and then.

    I will definitely have a RWD 911 Turbo at some point, I'm guessing it will either be all the way to the ultimate aircooled Turbo (again, IMHO) the 965 3.6, but that may take a few more years to achieve, or all the way back to basics with the first one, which I can buy spring time 2014.

    Do you think the 930 can be enjoyed by a 30 year old? I am mostly into cars of the 90s, but there are a few older cars (30+ years old) that I want to have, even for just a few years. I don't think I would liked to manhandle a Countach or a Testarossa, a bit too much work for my taste, but I'm thinking that the 930 is a much lighter and user friendly car?
