In the process of painting 80i and have never seen a 308 painted all color matching. Since i have to paint the bumpers anyway i figured i would ask people that love their cars their opinion.

I debated this when I had my car painted. Decided firmly against it when I saw a photo of one. The reason it doesn't work is that there are too many pieces and protrusions in the bumper assembly. Painted red, it just looks like you mistakenly tipped the ends into a big bucket of paint.

That is why I like black 308's best; everything matches (roof, bumpers, vents, etc.). To each their own though.

Agree with you, Mark (one of my two 328, the GTS, is indeed black); but on a red car, I don't know if this is because I have been "brainwashed" by respect for the tradition, red bumpers always look wrong to me: these are very common over here, look at the two examples here-enclosed, and make up your mind: what do you think?

Hmmm. Part of me likes it, part of me has a hard time getting used to it. Maybe I'm brainwashed too. I think I would like it more and more over time.

I like the body color treatment on a euro car. I think it's one of the reasons I prefer 328's over 308's. I'm not sure I've seen body colored US bumpers.

It's a great way to ruin the future sales potential of the car. To me it just looks wrong on a 308.

I've seen one picture and the answer is no, the 328 has modern style bumper covers and black looks good on all cars.

    So 1980's..

When I see one like this, especially in white, I think Miami Vice.

I say leave that "dipped" look on a Lambo, not a Ferrari

From the photo it looks as though only the front has been color matched. It doesn't look that bad as its the small euro bumper. I do agree however that I rather leave it black.

That car overall is pretty hot w/the driving lights, 360 wheels, and that stance! Did I mention the stance?

What's wrong with being looking like 80's, isn't this cars are from the 80's
That silver car above doesn't look too shabby plus, I think it's better to
have an 80's car and make it a better 80's car than making an 80's car and
trying to make it look like a 90's or 2000's car.

    Nothing wrong. I love the 80's - that's when I grew up.

But I didn't love EVERYTHING about then. I just never liked that look. Back in 85 it looked a little off to me which means now in 2013 it really really looks weird.

    To me.

I thought I'd hate it, and my preference is almost always to keep it original, it actually looks pretty good so long as the bumpers are pushed in. The silver one is looking good - the 360 wheels are the only non-oem ones I've seen that look "right" to me.

For those that like more mods - this is just my preferences, I think owners should do whatever they want. Well, almost whatever they want - see the 308 dino thread for what not to do......

O K it seems to be divided in favor of not painting car color.
The car being red and the picture didn't look that bad I think maybe
painting them a flat black instead of gloss will look even better.

I don't see 288 GTO owners painting their cars' bumpers red.

I guess it depends on your level of respect for the originality of the car. I recall an '83 for sale at Ferrari of Denver some time back, bumpers painted red, and it looked ridiculous.

I will admit, it doesn't look too bad as far as these go.

not for me. Would be more open minded on other cars, but not a Ferrari, and definitely not a 308

Know when I actually like it? On a C4.

Saw a red one at the FCA Nationals this past summer with a red front bumper and I kept staring at it trying to figure out what looked so good about it. The owner pointed it out. (BTW, I like them anyway)

And shields. It's a shame, because grigio is such a great color on 308s and doesn't need the bling.

If it had a timing chain, that would probably be done in gold.
