    SPOILER

The man just won his 4th WC in a row, and he's only 25. Prost only won his 1st one at 30, Fangio was even older, and Schumey was about the same age. There's no doubt Vettel is on pace to break Schumey's records, even though that is a long way's off with much work to do.

Nevertheless, he is booed while on the podium. He also just doesn't seem to be held in the same regard as Prost, Fangio, or Schumacher.

I was visiting my parents this past summer, and was talking to their neighbor, who is an avid F1 fan. I asked him how he was enjoying the season. I asked him what he thought of Vettel. He said to me that he didn't like Vettel at all, and that he found him to be arrogant....?!?! I looked at him in complete disbelief. I really don't know how anyone can view Vettel as arrogant. He is the complete opposite of that. Anyways, just another example of why I as posting this thread.

The only negative that I can come up with on Vettel is that he has accomplished everything while being on the same team, which I find to be boring. I want to see him on another team, or drive a lackluster car to see what he can get out of it. Sort of like what Senna did in the McLaren when they started using Ford motors. Also, even though I have high regard for Webber, I'd like to see Vettel have another WC as a team mate. I was believing my wish was going to come true when there were rumors of Kimi going over to Red Bull. Here I say all of this, but in the meantime, Senna won all of his WCs driving a McLaren Honda. Big difference is that he had Prost as a team-mate.........

He's so arrogant that Red Bull had to hire some PR people for him so people like him better.

    Two words: The finger.

People also don't like him because he is a huge crybaby as soon as he faces adversity.

I agree with you. People dislike the guy because he's young. Anytime a young kid upstages the old guys, he's going to be looked down upon and viewed as arrogant.

He is not the most exciting personality out there, so I can see why PR people may have been hired. How does this constitute to him being arrogant?

The finger? What is this referring to?

People don't like him because he is a crybaby? How does this mean he is arrogant?

Do you even know what "arrogant" means? People not liking you does not mean you are arrogant. You have given me zero examples of him being arrogant.

They hired PR people because Seb gets booed all the time and it has been bothering him. People do not like his arrogant attitude when he wins, this is a fact.

You have to be joking. You must be blind. Have you watched a single race of qualifying session from the past 5 years?

Why don't you think people like him? Gee, could it be due to his arrogance? By the way, posting things like "do you even know what arrogant means" don't exactly strengthen your argument. Who do you think you are?

Can someone lock this dumb ass thread? It's redundant and if the OP actually read the forum, he would know that.

Vettel is hard to like. He's got the whole team to himself, his teammate is basically just a test driver for him. He whines when he doesn't get his way, etc, etc. I lost all respect for him with the whole multi 21 debacle and it's clear that Webber was basically forced to leave the team and call it "retiring". Amazing how it's always Webber's car that breaks down isn't it? I hope Newey designs a dog for next year.

Malaysia 2013. Both Seb and Mark were ordered by the team to go into a different engine map to preserve their engines and fuel, that map was called 'multi-21'. Mark was well ahead of Seb when this order went out, meaning Mark was going to win and if Seb were in multi-21 then Seb would never have a chance to catch Mark. Seb ignored the team order, caught up to Mark, Seb was reprimanded A HUGE AMOUNT by Horner and Newey himself during the race while Seb is disobeying that order, Seb passed Mark, Horner and Newey continued to reprimand Vettel, after Mark was passed Mark gave Seb 'the finger' on live international television. Mark is probably the nicest and most approachable guy in F1, and Seb managed to put Mark in a place where he has never ever said a kind thing about him. Yes, Seb is arrogant, and an undeserving champion, and he has been booed ever since to the point that -for the first time in the history of F1- the team had to hire a PR team to handle Seb's nonsense.

Just like Mansell circa 1992 and Prost circa 1993. The car was just that good. Were either of them better than Senna those years? Hah, no.

If Seb is an undeserving champion, why didn't Webber pick it up and get the job done? Or, was RB so intent on sabatoging Webber from the get go, they put their whole fate in the hands of a kid who couldn't drive?

Webber hasn't been the same driver since 2010, he won 4 races that year and should have won the WDC, Petrov holding up Alonso and Webber in Abhu Dhadi ruined that, no DRS then and Seb pretty much won by default. After that Webber just hasn't been clean as he used to be. Seb's first title was very much a James Hunt title. He only ever lead the WDC points during at the end of that horrid race, and then won the title as a result. That was pretty much the only year Seb had a competitive challenger as a teammate.

Sorry,I dont agree he is a crybaby, in fact he is a class act and more mature than his young years. He has the best equipment and makes the best of it. Ordered to place second, but wins- any champion with pride in himself would do the same. Sure undeserved booing hurts him -why not? He can win from the front or behind, and he can race. Your looking at a legend -enjoy this experience , it wont last forever.

If he were a team player, he would have payed attention and respected the team order and not act like a baby having his bottle taken from him. His championships will always have an asterisk next to them with the hardcore fans as long as he remains in a Newey machine that constantly has half a second hiding in its pocket. There are reasons he's being booed, Red Bull had to hire a PR team for this baby for a reason.

I think he does get the recognition he deserves, a good few on here were calling him a 4 x WDC, before this season even got properly under way.

But IMO that in itself is annoying, however he drives near enough faultlessly in a great car every time, making it look too damn easy, but only a fool would think it is easy.

So hence the feeling he is not getting recognition for his amazing achievements, but IMO he is.

The only thing I will add that maybe pissed folk off, was his disobedient team call to hold station with Webber, folk know it is his team, and Vet knew the bossman wouldn't give him a hard time about it, but folk didn't like that, so the booing started.

End of the day we know he didn't need to do that, but you never know till the WDC was in the bag, so be it ruthless.

I have always called him the smiling assassin, and I still think that.

You are quite an angry person. You still haven't given me any examples of Seb being arrogant. You have given me examples of what you seem to believe constitute arrogance, but I disagree.

And who am I? I am someone who knows what the word "arrogant" means. Tiffosi's definition of arrogance: somebody who is disliked.

What you thought was so crystal clear when you said "the finger" doesn't seem to be so crystal clear now, does it? Yet you are talking like someone who knows everything, and if someone doesn't agree with you, then they know nothing.

You should chill out a bit, this is just a discussion. Lose the condescending tone of your posts.

Asterisk....lol. That's funny. The only people who think his FOUR CHAMPIONSHIPS IN A ROW need an asterisk are people unwilling to open their eyes to reality.

Used to like the guy until the Weber pass against team wishes and several team radio conversations that had him whining about somethjing not going his way - like a back market not moving for him. The quote "it's unfair". Really?

He can be the best driver in F1 but he really needs to work on his people/marketing skills. I think he is doing this and making some progress, but for me he has a way to go.
