From What I understand the end from the rack is SM the others I would imagine are Masearti or believe it or not Jensen Intercepter!
The Ball Joint on the bottom of the frount stub axles are Jensen, they are not Jag as they are too big.

Number of automatics produced: Ermanno Cozza provided me these official figures when I interviewed him for the first time at the factory July 2005.
Total Khamsin production 430, not 421.
    Total Automatic Khamsins: 95.
    Sold to:
    USA 55,
Japan 21, note that these are Euro left hand drive versions (yes in the Japanese right hand drive market, they want their cars like in Italy, at least they did back then) with minor detail modifications.
    1 to Switzerland,
18 to the various Right hand drive markets.

So...it will be interesting to confirm if yours was indeed sold new in Switzerland and if so assuming there was no error, it would be the only one:)

The photo you show is part of a set in one of the rarest Khamsin brochures.

    All the best,

    Marc[/QUOTE]

Now I have received the documentation from Maserati Classiche. The car was delivered new to Qatar! Also interesting to see how long it took to actually build the car. According to the buildsheet, the engine was built mid April-76, the final test was in dec-76 and delivery shortly thereafter.
If you notice the handwritten numbers on the sheet it looks like some kind of calculation. Maybe the cost, 19 900 something. Wonder which currency that would be?

    Hello Fredric,

    Thanks for posting that.

Imballo gabbia legno means packing in wooden crate, the dimensions of which are noted on the document. The currency indicated is for the packing...I doubt it is Lire because that would be a tiny amount so perhaps whatever the Quatar currency is/was or US Dollars.

It is not the first car sold in the middle east which has come back to Europe. There is a Khamsin sold new to Kuwait in Canada, one of the earliest car, AM120010, there are other cars to have emerged from the middle east such as AM120328 now in Germany, AM120106 mow in the Uk...

I thought the previous owner had bought 218 new?

    Best regards,

    Marc

AM120.008, AM120.US1000 and AM120.204 home in my garage.

As many of you know #204 was damaged in an accident in -88, and has not been driven since. Sad to say that the people starting the repairs did more damage than the accident itself, but as a body repairman I would say it's not as bad as the picture may suggest. Most parts are there, and I also have AM120.385, one of the 18 RHD automatic Khamsin. This car is complete, but will be used as spares for #204 (when time comes).

    Best regards

    Hi Mark,

It is AM120US1224 owned by S.D.

I saw it briefly during Maser Miglia 2000 at the Reno Hilton, he was not taking part just meeting us as a local.

Marrone (brown) tan, 5 speed US bumpers still on.

    Best regards,

    Marc

That was going to be my guess too.

    1975 Maserati Khamsin
“same owner 40yrs; 22,000 actual miles; never hit or abused; 5speed; perfect original interior .”

    Hmmmm, how he do dat?

    Sam is a character. :)

Merci Marc! I thought the oracle would know.

Ah those US bumpers, now we know why there are no pictures in the ad. Obviously the vendor

Wishes to shield the innocent and sensitive from such a disturbing sight!!

Never mind, I suspect they will vanish pronto once the car makes its likely journey across the

    Atlantic.

Was Marrone an original colour? Or is it really luci del bosco or a non maserati repaint?

Actually it sounds quite an appealing scheme, one I'd like in the garage.

    Shame my bank manager disagrees!

Very best to all and au revoir...

    Mark.

Motorclassica. this is the best 4 days motoring I have spent in ages. The Melbourne Exhibition Building is a stunning place to hold such a venue and some stunning cars. I will post my favorite picture when I can get the camera to talk to the computer

While we are on the subject of auto Khamsins I got to see two cars in melbourne last week. AM 120.363 and AM 120 421
363 is a auto that sold reciently. the gentelman that owns it now has spent some money on paint touch up and exhaust .. the usual the tips rust off.
This is a very original car and is better than I thought it would be. yes it's an Auto and yes the velour inserts are original. This car evene has its original service books. The car is for sale and may already be sold.

421 is a manual, it has now been painted and looks very good even though its in a collection it will get used.

    Regards
    Graeme

Hi All I am pleased to announce I did a good job of waiving the Khamsin flag at MotorClassica 2013 by Taking out the 100 years of Bertone Category. What was even a bigger surprise was I didn’t realise I was in the Concourse!
The Trophy ceremony was compared by a local member of the Australian Top Gear show compare Steve Pizzati but really special part was having was having the trophy presented by Valentino Balboni.

A sightly humbled Khamsin owner Graeme

Thanks Guys I am even more impressed as yes I had the paint on the car given a clean up but that was really the only thing. It wasnt a full concourse prep so that makes me even more surprised.
This was an amazing event and being part of it was really special.

A Picture from one end of the building.

    Hi Marc
Thanks for organising the visor being signed, It did stop a number of people in their tracks.

There are very few Cars signed by Marcello, however after the MotorClassica 2013 show there were at a guess at least 30 of the 54 Lamborghini's signed by Valentino during the Lambo club meet in the forcourt of the venue on saturday.
I would also comment that the Miura that won the Lamborghini event at Concorso Italiano was there, stunning lime green car owned by Mark Janson, whom is on the organising committee for the event.
Looking foward to next, but I cannot compete as I won a class!

    Regards

Finally got at least some work done again: I re-built the carbs with new accelerator-diaphragms, float-needles and new gaskets, set everything to factory start-spec and made it all function spple and clean. They are back on the manifold, and look the part:) This was a much bigger job than I expected, loys of parts to clean and inspect, and a lot of time went into extracting 3 air-screws from the carb-bodies, they had seized in place solid. Probaly hadn't been touched in 31 years.

Now I just need the l/h head back on and I'm back in business.

    Best,

    Jack.
