This is partly an accurate statement due to demand reduction in Europe, but is also due to model replacement (California). Demand is pretty solid in US and Asia. If they wanted, they could have maintained their numbers by shifting more of the European supply to the US. The fact that they don't should tell you that they do care about resale values.

Look Ferrari doesn't try to support resale values out of pure love for its customers (that is kool aid). It benefits Ferrari in the long run. In fact, it's not only Ferrari that is affected by resale values. Studies show that changes in resale values for mainstream car makers like the GMs and Fords and Toyotas are linked to market share changes, which are then linked to changes in profitability (one reason being that lease payments are also based on an estimate of resale value). It's a short-term vs. long-term view. Sure you can sell more now and book great profits, but a few quarters later, you'll get hit with lower demand. Ferrari are masters in managing supply and demand. McLaren is also learning this.

    Bunch of nonsense and spin.

If he could sell 20K cars a year, he'd say we never exceed 19K. If he could sell 150K cars like Porsche, he'd say we never sell more than 149K.

He doesn't like athletes buying cars because they just want to show them off, but does absolutely nothing to help enthusiasts get a hold of them. Why do so many athletes have them whiles tons of enthusiasts on fchat are playing bull**** dealer games for years before they can even get one in a reasonable amount of time at a fair price? I'm pretty sure Kanye West will get a car before me if he wants it, and I'm pretty sure I'm 10x the car enthusiast he is.

Ferrari doesn't sell SUVs. Nice boast. Congrats on the FF, Ferrari

    Touchy!

It's their culture. Either you enjoy it or you don't. If you don't, you might find happiness in other forums. On the other hand, some people like pain. So surf where you like, and buy what you like. But if you can only have one... Ferrari!

I would like to remind you guys that the Corvette C7 just went into production in August and they have already made 5000 of them -- 100% for the US market.

Ferrari making 7000 cars in 4 body styles for the entire world a year is very, very small. What you are upset about is that there are so many 360 to F430 cars out there so F cars appear "common". As you keep bringing in new models, they will be less and less rare.

Besides, most F cars are in the garage 99.99999999% of their lives so you never see them anyway.

I would also say that if McLaren could sell 10,000 cars a year, they would happily do it.

It's about making money. Sorry to disappoint you but these companies are not hobbies.

The jokes on you because the FF is meeting it's sales goals. It was always intended for Europe where -- unlike their American cousins who hide their cars in holes like groundhogs -- they actually drive their cars in the wet and snow.

Nice try... but unfortunately a FAIL.

I actually like the FF - but for my needs I got a CTS-V Wagon. Loads cheaper, not much slower, fits more people comfortably and I bought it for less than the - wait for it - first year depreciation on the FF.

So buy a used FF. Problem solved :)

FF 100000000000000x > than Caddy in every single category.

Note the symbol is > and not >=.

If there's one thing I've learned with this hobby--- everyone has their own way of making things make sense to themselves. So if that means on one of the vehicles you go with the CTSV instead of the Ferrari, thats fine. Its all good. When you take a Ferrari, any one of them, out, it will be a special event and you'll get a lot more attention than when taking out a more typical daily car like a Caddy. CTSV is a great car.

And there is a key difference. Don't care if I'm noticed. Just like I don't care if journos agree with me. A utility vehicle is just that- for utility. I throw dogs, car parts, tires and so on in the V. Doubt many would do that in a FF. And the FF is too much a compromise to be a great car to drive like a 458 or MP4. So I'd rather have more utility in the Utility car.

At least the V returns a decent driving experience and I have to say having a 6-speed station wagon is wacky fun.

With regard to getting back MSRP, you have to remember if you are a new Ferrari client, you cannot get the car at MSRP. If you want a spider at MSRP for example, they will tell you to buy the FF then they will give you a spot. So they make you take a hit one way or another.
So in reality if you do not have a relationship with Ferrari, you may end up losing more then just buying a slightly used McLaren. (depending how badly the FF depreciated after you bought it)
and nevermind the sales tax twice just to get the car you really want, OUCH

And if you try to get a decent value on your trade you will lose your preferred status...been there done that.

Go to the high volume dealers. Befriend someone and buy a used F-whatever...keep it for 6 months..trade it in on another...keep it 6 months..and then offer to pre-trade on a new F-Whatever. Works.

    I was offered a spring 14 458 Spider. Passed.

I dont know where you guys are living that you can't get a new 458 for MSRP.....I was offered two coupes this summer at MSRP from two different dealers in NY, and I could have ordered one and gotten it in 6 months. Perhaps you guys are from Miami or LA but in NY, it is not hard to get a new 458 coupe at MSRP at all.....

It wasn't a reference to sales, it's a reference to a car isn't even remotely close to the image they want to convey with that comment.

We don't make SUVs, but we make hatchbacks with AWD and lots of space. As if the FF is so much cooler and of the Ferrari DNA than an SUV. It's not. Pretty much everyone finds it to be the odd man out.

I also do not believe for a second that Ferrari, a company with minuscule sales, would spend all that time and money on a car that they know wouldn't sell well in one of its biggest and most important markets. I'm sorry, but that's nonsense.

Since any modern ferraris ultimate performance is irrelevant on the street and most dont go to the track at least the FF makes some sense. From what I hear thye drive really great.

Personaly I think they look great. The F12 is a bit of a clown car, designed for Asia which may be just as improtant to ferrari as here.. I am sure ferrari hoped the Ff would sell well in the USA and maybe in other markets it does, but the V12 2+2's for ferrari are not great sellers. The best part about the FF is they will depreciate like arock and in a few years you will be able to buy a great one for 100k or maybe less.

I placed my order for a 458 Spider less than two years ago. I am getting delivery next month at MSRP. This is the first car I have ever ordered from Ferrari of Tampa Bay, in FL. I really wonder about these stories.

Have you done no business with this dealer other than order a 458 Spider? No used cars? If so I have to say I am surprised. But you did wait quite a while.

Of course these will depreciate over time. In the USA used spiders are still worth more than list. Especially brand new ones.
