Hello. As the previous owner removed the york unit, I want to install a sanden type compressor. I know some of you have done that mod with success. I think the preferred model is the sanden sd7h15 if am right. I think I can get that, but what about the adapting plate. I have seen some pictures and I plan to do my own, I have a propper MIG machine. So the big question is, does any of you have any drawings of the plates so I cam make my own? Also, any feedback about the project would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
There is an excellent bracket available which allows these things to be bolted up pretty easily, and it's not very expensive (less than $70 if I remember right), hopefully someone will post it quickly as I do not quite remember how to look it up.
Use the search function. There are several good threads that go through the entire conversion process, including the correct Sanden model number. There is no need to fabricate a bracket. There are several "York to Sanden" brackets available, and most people use the one with the adjustable mount to make tensioning the belt easier. And I believe a company called Retroair provides a kit for 308s that includes the bracket, compressor, receiver/dryer and other needed parts at a price that is less than buying all of the components separately. Seek and Yea shall find.

There is this one.. York 209 or 210 to Sanden or Seltec Compressor Mount Kit | eBay or this one.. York to Sanden Seltec Adjust Compressor Mount Kit | eBay as previously stated,the kits aren't all that expensive..I think by the time you buy the materials and spend the time making the bracket,you would be backwards trying to make the kit up.
I did this conversion a few years back and it was pretty straight forward..only tricky part was finding the correct size V belt.
Hello again. The conversion is done. Now, how much oil should poor inside the system? some people say with sanden units there is less oil needed. Keeping un mind the new sanden is prefiled with 5.5 ox, what should I do? Thanks again for your help
Unlike the York, the Sanden does not have an oil sump so no additional oil is needed other than that provided in the refrigerant itself. The York's oil sump allows it to be used as a popular add-on air compressor for off-roaders and others who want that capability. They are also see some marine use for that same purpose.
I recently purchased the Retroair compressor upgrade kit for my 308 QV. As you may know, the installation instructions are not that detailed. Does anyone know where the 3/8" x 1/2" spacer should be installed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bill
Iirc there were spacers required between the ears of the compressor and the ears of the mount. Could you post a picture of what you received as there were variations in mounts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
