Yes, and so has everyone else because there remains nothing of value to be added to the discussion. Everyone was simply restating what had already been stated, and it looks as though that has not changed.

At Last. May it continue. The space has been filled with most interesting subjects such as 010I/006I and the 1948 Mille Migilia. Please let this continue. tongascrew

    Quick bump.

The car seems to have been removed from the Talacrest website. Sold or no longer for sale?

Where did you find the ad? It almost sounds like if you don't want to buy 0858 they[???] will build you a replica. 0858 may very well be sold privately by the current owner without any involvement with Talacrest. It all depends on how the contract is written. tongascrew

To answer my own question this ad is by Fine Sports Cars which builds a variety of replicas including a P4 which they say is bases on 0858. When you go to their web site and search thru their products you will find this ad. I don't know when this web site was created but it is very much there now. tongascrew

I can add something useful here. About a year ago I came across their ad, I think in a magazine. It caught my eye because they said they could construct a replica of any car you wish and I fell in love with both the look and the specification of the 1952-58 Pegaso Z102b Touring Superleggera berlinetta during its introduction at the 1953 New York Auto Show (see my photo attached - copyrighted so I ask your respect!). Turns out that with all the appealing description, what they proposed was truly a replica since there are no spare Pegasos or Pegaso parts lying around - the Company built some 80-odd examples of which only 41 are accounted for today. They proposed to use a 4-cam V-8 similar to that used in the Alfa Otto-V competizione and to construct a chassis and body in Italy. The Pegaso used Alfin drums all around, a torsion bar independent suspension up front and a torsion bar deDion rear with the brake drums mounted inboard. They said 'my car' would be as close as possible to an original car. Cost in mid-six figures, not so bad if it really resembles an original car.

Here's the text of the description of the "858" they propose to build. I do not believe that it is a work in progress, rather they show photos of another build process.

"This is a rare opportunity for enthusiasts to take delivery of a unique car that was produced in very limited numbers, has a timeless design, a unique race pedigree, and historical significance. Each car will be hand-crafted in our workshops by local artisans to the original factory specifications and ready to thrill its new owner. These automobiles are being constructed using the customer’s Ferrari donor automobile, or a Ferrari donor car from our inventory."

So you see there is no deception at all.

Thanks for sharing the pics. Pegaso may be the most under appreciated super car ever.

I wonder if the docket of the court with jurisdiction over the shop is searchable online. Something along the lines of "Ferrari S.p.A v. Talacrest." Just a thought.

Although it seems that in Italy things work quite differently. At least one of the bigger restoration houses has been restoring original cars in the traditional Italian manner and making replicas/ recreations for years. See the Maserati 151 thread for the details. And to finish, they are still in business I believe.

Here are the images of El Domenicano that I got at the NY Auto show. As I recall it, the curious paint job was indeed yellow at the roof and gradually blended into orange and finally a light red at the sills. Wonder what that appealing girl looks like today

I believe you are referring to Cristiano Luzzago's shop? Still in business AFAIK.

Have to love everyone in suits. Amazing how much the culture has changed regarding what was considered appropriate attire to go out.

I loved the NY International Auto Show. Went to my first one, at 8 years old, in 1966 for my B'day with my two older cousins. My father said he bought a Maserati, he was joking; he had five kids by then, so no bucks for that car. We had a Saab 92 station wagon.

I personally don't mind recreations as long as all parties know what they are dealing with.

Quite, nah was thinking of Giordanengo, but Luzzago is another....... The Italian's do things a little differently. Indeed there is nothing wrong with replica's so long as they are honest.

What a great pic. Recreations are the wave of the futre to having somewhat acessable classics and preserving the old builds for posterity. (assuming there are still old builds that exist with most parts from the day they left the, factory besides data plates)

I think that pic is nothing less than horrifying because it is my understanding that that shop depends on a steady stream of 330GT and 250GTEs to butcher for their chassis and drivetrains. Someone please correct me if I am mistaken, and no real Ferraris are being butchered to make these fakes. Where does it end? When there are 20 GTEs left?
