I know I "only" have a Maserati, but I certainly would support Gary for Mod since he has contributed a lot to the Canada thread over the years... He has taken initiative in the past to try and liven up the Canadian forum, and has certainly been a positive force for getting discussion going, which is what is needed. The guy lives and breathes the hobby, and has an encyclopedic knowledge. He has been to many of the shows that most of us only just read about in magazines, and he posts the pictures of those events here for the rest of us to experience. I also think he would be a fair Mod, keep the threads on topic, and make lurkers and newbies feel welcome to participate...
Whatever it is, ownership does not automatically make a person right for the job. It takes a bit more than that. Not so much anymore, but I used to deal with many exotic and hi end car owners and some of them have the personality similar to a sheet of drywall.
What kind of car a mod drives is completely irrelevant. There are many outside factors regarding Fcar ownership that have nothing to do with moderating skills. Good mods are good with people. They are impartial, good listeners, reasonable, patient and all that. They have to be willing to sort through people's bull without getting worked up and have to be willing to devote a lot of time to the site. They need to be smart enough to see through the crap but nuts enough to be willing to do the job. Guess that rules me out!
I'm pretty sure Rocco was kidding about needing to be an owner. But I can't speak for myself I need to confir some more.
