I will say that I'm certainly honoured that you thought of me... I'm not against the idea, though I feel like I'm significantly younger than other moderators on the forum.
This new mod nomination is turning into a bit of a joke (which I knew would happen) as I indicated it in my earlier posts. It's been 2 weeks and 7 pages of posts and everything has come to a screeching halt... We have 3 excellent high post count candidates here in myself, Gary and Chris who are qualified intelligent dedicated fchatters who are on the site everyday ready to take this job which is a volunteer position I assume. I would bet the farm there is some major scrambling going on "behind-the-scenes" between mods, sponsors and Mr. Rob Lay because they don't want either one of us and I can almost guarantee at this point neither of us three have a chance and that's pretty sad actually... Rob, is it normal that there is a 7 page discussion on nominating a mod and you haven't chimed in once or answered one of the many questions on what the nomination procedure is? Just sayin.... So let me ask you directly: How do we nominate a mod? How and when do we vote?
Hi fab , don't put too much thought into it - there is nothing going on behind the scene , and Rob will support / Vasco's feedback....sometimes things take longer as time schedules time zone changes and availability becomes difficult at times. Vasco's has a full time job as well and is trying his best to do what's best for the CDN section. Don't sweat it bud.
I wish I shared your optimism and positive outlook on people but I don't. This matter could have been settled in 3 days easily and either one of us 3 would have done a great job. Lenghty process? I don't buy it....it's not like we're nominating the next CEO of eBay here no offense... Darryl, how about we bet on it? I am ready to wear a Leafs jersey all day if one of us gets the position but you have to wear a Habs jersey if someone else gets it. Shake on it?
Deal , I know I won't because I don't want the role, but if your name is up fab, you got my vote. I think the CDN section should be represented by someone outisde of Ontario, east coast or west coast needs to step up..... Ontario needs to step aside on this one. Btw, do you even own a leafs jersey
Darryl, you misunderstood... I'm under the impression that they don't want me, Gary or Chris and are trying to get someone else. So if they do get someone else, I win and you put on the Habs Jersey. If one of us three gets it, I'll buy a Leafs jersey!!!!
I understood , I'm still game .... I will gladly post the pic with the Habs jersey .... But you better go out and buy your leafs jersey sooner than later
Gents Vasco told me on facebook he wants to wait for a couple more guys to step up . Gary Espada 8394 EtypeFHC 887465
Wow, you chaps are being a bunch of divas. Vasco has other things to do in his time as well... he has already said he is stepping down and will transition another mod in. He also said there will be a poll to determine who gets the new position, which puts everything into the hands of the 'voters'. I'm sure our current moderation team will be able to come up with a diplomatic solution. Meanwhile, calm your hormones, gents.
Y'all need to relax and have a Labatts 50. The whole Ferrari ownership thing was just havin some fun. You really need to grow some thicker skin if you want to be a mod.
so here's what happens generally on forums ... some make good comments some make not comments comments others don't agree with and then like the comment above ,some one comes in and it slams all previous comments . why not man up and quote who your slamming Fave . Gary Espada 8394 EtypeFHC 8874655
+1 I personally have nothing against any of the guys nominated, but a mod here seriously needs to have thick skin. Let's step back for a bit and calm down. Jeebus, if you guys were mods, I can only imagine the number of deleted posts/banned members just because they ruffled your feathers the wrong way...
Gary I think you are reading into my post far far to much. When I slam someone its usually fairly obvious who that person is. Lately I haven't been slamming anyone, just having fun. My sense of humour is about the level of an 8 year old and even I will admit a bit in left field at times. Maybe I'm to dumb to understand who you think I'm slamming here, but I'm not. I have no reason to do that to Chris or Treedee3d and certainly not you, besides why would I slam my favorite Lambo owner? Ok, your the only Lambo owner I know but I still like you However if there is something you need to get off your chest with me, you have my number. Only saying that thicker skin is a good idea, that's all.
I can only speak for myself but I am quite calm.... Also, isn't a diva someone who expects a lot of things done for them. If someone is excited and anxious to step up and VOLUNTEER as a mod so he can help others, doesn't that mean the exact opposite of a diva? I am not faulting Vasco either....I'm not even sure he needs to be involved in selecting another mod so my hat's off to him for sticking around until it's done. He could have stepped down and walked away if wanted to. I think it goes beyond and above Vasco's jurisdiction... Also, if it was established that it would be a vote, let's just get to it already and establish some details: who gets a vote, when, where, how??? Seems obvious to me there's shenanigans going on and Darryl better get his Habs jersey ready...
+1! I've been a mod on a few other auto forums over the years - and I've NEVER seen a defined process, election rules, voter rules, etc. involved in moderator selections! Accusations of shenanigans are really over the top and unnecessary (and I'd suggest won't help your 'application' with the people making the decision!) Really, it's Rob's forum, we're all guests here. Rob sets the rules, Rob makes the decisions on the "management and administrative structure", since Rob needs help running the place. If Rob wanted to declare a new mod for this section, he could name the mod and there's no obligation for an election, votes, rules, candidate speeches, etc. We the forum members don't get to decide how a moderator is selected, unless we're invited to participate in the process. We certainly don't get to DEMAND an election process! Vasco has asked for nominees (specifically NOT volunteers), and said he might post a poll. I suspect he might be regretting that request by now . I'd volunteer, but that would disqualify me immediately . I'm new to the local F car community in Calgary, having just bought my 308 this summer, so I don't know the people out west or east, other than limited interaction online. I do know how to moderate a forum in conjunction with a team of moderators and forum policy set out by the forum owner/administration, though.
Gotcha!! finally a thread with some good ol drama !!!! I was just about to fall asleep to ! Gary Espada 8394 EtypeFHC 887465
Now you hit the nail on the head which is why I stated in the beginning that my chances are close to non-existent. Also, no one is "demanding" anything, we're merely asking questions on how and when the selection/vote occurs and keep getting "dead silence" which is what leads me to believe the shenanigans. I mean this site has been around for many years and tons of mods have been nominated so it isn't normal that we're 2 weeks into it and 8 pages still without an answer to that simple question. If Rob decides, fine, just tell us that's the way it's gonna be....
