Looking at the twin headlights, the right side doesn't seem to be at the same height than left side...

Bob, does the DOT law still pertain to a 40yr old car? Or it is law because that's the way it's always been?

In reality, I don't think a cop would blink an eye at it these days. Especially with all the different colored bulbs in all the kid's cars :)

Good point though in NJ it should probably fail an inspection, they don't enforce front plates at the inspection station but cops can at any old time.

Tinted out front windows and windshields is a no no here too but I see them all the time.

So who knows what they'd do to a bunch of lawless Lamborghini batards like us right? :D

    Wanna guess when they're pissed?

No it's blanco. Look at that interior again. If that's black it has a ton of something on it?

Does anyone know if this leather rimmed steering wheel was available on the S2 Espada when new?

The picture is from my 1970 S2 Espada (chassis 8116) but I'm not sure if it's the original steering wheel supplied with the car.

I'd prefer the car to have (what I think is) a period correct wood rimmed wheel anyway but don't know where to find one, as I've never seen any offered for sale. Any info on where I might be able to source one from gratefully received..

Well Harry, as you probably already know never say never with these low volume manufacturers but I've got #7996 a late 1970 car and I consider it to be a relatively early SII. I have the wooden shallow dish wheel. The later ones had a deeper dish style, sounds like pizza yumm, with the SIII having the deep dish leather version so I'd say that's not original.

Where to find one? Try Gary Bobileff or GT Car Parts in Arizona. After that maybe Eurospares?

    Hi Harry,

We met at the Bologna in May, we had a chat friday night at Piazza Maggiore (in the rain) about your car and espacially the sunroof... As for the steering you have, definitively not the original one on your S2, you should have the wood one with the square openings, have you tried Eurospares? The one you have is the model on most of the S3s. In fact, as always with Lamborghini in these days, things are not very formal but there is some kind of an evolution:

1st photo: wheel on the first Espada
2nd and 3rd photo: on all S1 and most of the S2
4th and 5th photo: on some of the S2 (in the 83xx to 88xx range, but not all!) and also some of the early S3 (89xx, 90xx, 91xx range)
    6th photo: on some S3 (92xx, 93xx range)
7th photo: on most of the S3
8th photo: your car at the factory!

Of course some steering wheel could have been "updated" with the years by the owners, I have seen some Espadas with Miura (leather) wheel..

I'm open to persuasion guys ... LOL.

Gosh look at this. How desperate Canada has become. Now their openly soliciting cross border electioneering with their fellow North American cohorts. Gee, first it's that Mayor of Toronto and now this. :D

Thank you for your excellent photographic record as to what steering wheel came when. I always thought those deep-dished wood-rimmed s/wheels were aftermarket but obviously not. Of the two wood wheels, I like the square hole version the best but I'd love either of them, if I can find one..

Thanks also to Gary and Bob for their suggestions too, Ferrarichat is such a useful resource on stuff like this.

    The hunt is on!
