Do folks on here really drive with their tail out, eating up precious tire rubber? May be fun but not the fast way thru the corner. Looks like something I may want to do in SOMEONE ELSE'S CAR. LOL

If you do not drive like that, what do you need SSC for? You have to turn it on to use it. Not a safety thing.

This is the ultimate version of the 458 series. Huge improvement and package . Reasonably priced too.

What is the base price of the 458S? Someone said $315K US.

IIRC that was the US Dollar price based on the Euro$ exchange rate at announcement time. They may tweek the price in the US based on marketing considerations, US auto requirements and transport expenses over the pond, etc.

No. I could probably count the number of people who drive like that on a normal road on one hand. I've never in my life seen a car drive on the street.

Cool feature? Sure. Useful? Probably not. It sounded like you could just mash the gas pedal and turn and it would do the rest for you. I guess that's somewhat useful, though in reality won't be used much.

Never have seen anybody in the Ferrari Club drive with their tail out. Been a member for 13 years.
    Not on the road.
    Not on the track.
    Not on a parking lot.

the only do-nuts I have seen at FCA events are glazed, jelly filled and powdered sugar coated. ;)

Only ones I have seen are those media folks who are driving other people's cars.

Power sliding with a 458 is a cool feature? If this is important to me I would go with a F12 or a 599. ;)

Design has nothing to do with the Speciale drifting, it was the driver's style.

If anybody had driven like that at any racing/high performance driving school they would have flunked. there was no such thing as drifting school. ;)

Yeah, they are making a car video, they have to slide it a bit for the cameras. What he's getting at is the new SSC allows you to have a little fun and slide the car more without the systems coming in too soon. Now you can be more in control but feel somewhat confident the systems will be a backup in case its needed. Its a really cool car.

I cant really tell any difference in the sound..It does look better out in the real world and moving. And i still think it will look much better without that stripe.

How does the new SSC system differ from just putting a current F430 or 458 Italia into Race mode? Doesn't that also allow some slippage just like the SSC system?

Have a look at the following F430 review where Tiff tests the different settings for traction/stability control.
