As we all have the same cars with varying experiences worldwide of great/good/mediocre/poor/awful/avoid at all costs parts suppliers and dealers it makes sense for us to have a categorised directory of these people for all to use for reference.

Yes, there are independent sponsors etc but these aren't based on owner experience and feedback which is more relevant in my opinion.

Does this already exist on F-Chat or should we maybe start one ?

    Any thoughts ?

sounds like a good idea, although I have no clue of how we could do that without simply building an awful long string of posts... ideas ? suggestions ?

I think the way to do it would be to have one person (volunteer) be responsible. We could send the info to that person, who would edit a fixed single post - a read only post. That way, we do not have 7 miles of postings, a lot of opinions, etc. to find important information.

I also would like to see a similar fixed post with the years, colors, transmissions, serial numbers, etc. of each model we know about. There could be a reference to owner such as 'ferrarchat member', 'unknown', 'listed on eBay', 'listed @ Domain Names | Search, Registration, SSL Certificates, Web Hosting, Website Builder | Name.com', 'Barrett-Jackson sale #xxx', 'Blankety Blank dealer inventory', etc. This would help get a picture of how many cars, are out there.

If there's enough interest and support for the idea I could work out a way of doing it with my partner as he writes software and could do this quite easily.

Any and all comments welcome as to how this should be set up.

If you look at the 308 section they have several sickys (sp?) for parts etc. We could ask the mods to set this up for us. Then when someone gets a good parts supplier for an item they can list it under the sticky.

    Good idea Russ
I have loads of sites/info collected and bookmarked as I imagine all of us will have so if it was categorized folks could just add to it ie engine parts, bearings suppliers, carb refurbers etc.

On the cars list again a good idea though one thing I noticed so far with trying to build a list of 400GT RHD is folks get confused and talk about other variants so one has to be very careful that you get the particular variant correct so questions need to be asked and checked against year etc.
    All good though
    Regards
    Alastair

I think the 'one person posting' from pm's idea would make for fast reference, & a sticky would keep this thread at the top of our sub-forum

I have an idea about adapting a piece of software we have to work in this application.

Not sure if it would so I'll speak to my partner and see if it's possible.

    Watch this space.....
