Ferrari 250 MM vignale coupe 0334MM

Dear Ferrari friends,

For my friend Jules Coenen from Belgium I am researching the history of 0334MM. Jules owned the car in the eighties. A part of the history until 1997 is available but from that year I have no information about the car.

Who can help me with with data, text, photographs or news about the present owner ?

That Dutch registration seems to be valid still, ever since 21-09-1985. So still here or someone "forgot" to export the car.

I can't help you with a name, but according to info from Marcel Massini the car was in Germany a few years ago. Do a search for the chassis-number, I started a thread on it then.

I am riding shotgun with Jules in the 2 photos taken at the Zolder track. The photo's were taken by his son with my camera, and quite a few of the other photos El Wayne posted are mine too.

Lots of good memories of it!

Good stuff here. Thanks. A few things I can add is that the car went to Germany in 2007. At one point supposedly the car was found walled up in a factory in Switzerland and the man behind the wheel in one picture is Alfred Hopf owner 1956-1966. Motorosso has a spec sheet on 0234 MM. tongascrew

Hello Jack,

What year was that? The very first Ferrari event I ever visited was at Zolder in 1987. The Vignale was there too but I have very few pictures of that event and none of the Vignale. I didn't expect so many Ferraris in one place and only had one film in my camera!

Agree with you Oscar, a la Cleopatra....the band around the nose was clearly thinner when raced early, then became a wider ( and uglier) surrounding later..and seem the nose is also protruding more, but might be just the picture angle.

The car was indeed walled in in a corner in a factory in Switzerland. IIRC it came out of hiding in 1971.

The event at Zolder was probably '84 or '85.

The grille surround appears to not be the original. Easy to damage too, the car is very long in the nose.

She was quite spectacular on the road, and once warmed up actually quite docile, yet very fast. The best thing though was firing it up from cold in the dark with the bonnet open: The MM engine spat back beautifully through those most gorgeous set of carbs!

The side-chromes and bumpers should still be around, at different places.

I haven't followed 0334MM after it went to JS, so have no idea what work was done after that. The only work carried out whilst with JC was a complete clutch overhaul. It burnt out that same weekend at Zolder, and I stood by the roadside at the track entrance with it for 2 hours while Jules fetched a trailer, what a claim to fame!

Dear Friends,

I am impressed by the information I have recieved after one day. Most photo's are familiar to me, but some are new. The last owner of the car was Dr. Eckhart Blum in Cologne. One of his employees informed me that the car was sold last year. That's all I know.
Last images of the car are in Cavallino 1997 during a track day at the Nurbugring.
The car has no bumpers, but I know where they are.

I have also a personal Photo of Jules Coenen with the car in 1983.

reviewed my pictures better: some were taken at Zolder rest at Zandvoort.

They were all taken in the period Mr. Smits owned the car.

 

Nice pics, but are the pictures taken in the wet not taken at the circuit of Zolder?

Wayne, thanks, Boudewijn confirmed for me with his photo of 1984 at the Zolder track.

Although I researched the car prior to Jules Coenen buying it, I didn't know that the volours were gold metallic with a black roof originally. Are there any photos of it in that colour scheme?

The photo of Jules Coenen with the car was taken in front of the house where I lived then, next to the factory-building that housed his collection. As a comparison, there was also a 300SL, which IMO was a real truck in comparison to the MM.

I may get flamed for it, but this is to me one of the (few) cars that looks better with some of the chrome left off, and the current colour suiys it well too.

Dear Friends,

i found a new photo of ferrari 0334. It's the first owner Karl lanz. TheCar has the first plate : BE 6102 0r 4102 , Karl lanz lived in bern.
The car is not metallic gold with a black roof, as mentioned in the Massini book.
