The 4.0's fenders are composite, right?
As someone has already suggested, the perfect 911 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That doesn't change the wheelbase... not following you. Wheelbase is the distance between the center of the front wheel and the center of the rear wheel. Maybe you're talking about front track width? Or am I misunderstanding?
It took me a while to convince Eduardo to get an RS but he now loves it. Same for the GTO. https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/181653_10150381649190284_7730303_n.jpg
Embedded. I really don't see how anyone who likes driving will not enjoy the RS. Good job! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, I think you are right, I think he is talking about the wide front track width. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Andrew that is awesome, I love both those cars, but the GT3RS with Manual is the last of its kind, everything was so perfectly done. As Joe has stated these are the future 1972 RS Cars of tomorrow. PS Joe, wonderful thread you have started once again.
Tony this guy tries to explain [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQ_dfB2HrNw]Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 Review- eCOTY 2011 - YouTube[/ame]
To clarify- the front spat wheel arch you highlight in the image on the .2RS was a requirement for LED/HID headlights as an option as the wing is aluminum/steel (probably mandatory in the US), in ROW if the car was optioned with lightweight battery and light weight headlights the front fends where made of plastic composite and the extended wheel arch wasn't a 'add on' but rolled as a whole unit as per 4.0.
Correct - absolutely an option here...let me dig out my brochure and option sheet somewhere....very rare by the way, from what i remember only 1 or 2 optioned as it required the lightweight battery as option as well, pretty the Fed laws didn't allow that in the US...much like the lightweight buckets (ala CGT)
Sorry, I was re-doing my post, but yes, will be very helpful to see what you've got as the RHD cars I have seen are same as all other 3.8 RS Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
note option codes 600 and 191 these relate to my previous post - the light weight Halogen headlights also deleted headlight washers so no nipples and further reduced weight Porsche 911 997.2 option/build codes MY2009-2012 - Stuttcars.com
Interesting. I don't think the frontal down-force 'winglets' were available for the 3.8 RS but now we see them appearing on some cars post-production Image Unavailable, Please Login
Speaking of down-force, I would not remove the fully funtional rear wing for aesthetic purposes unless driving very slowly! I can't speak to the precise pressure at speed save to say that it is not inconsiderable. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

How do we know that Porsche will not create a future GT3 RS variant that is manual (beyond 991). I realize that technology and shift speeds favor PDK, however if there is continued market demand, would they perhaps factor 6-7 speed manual in future products? I've also wondered about this for Ferrari, but in Ferrari's case, they are so wed to tech development from their F1 program.
