Thanksgiving Day Car Gathering at the Rock

Hello everyone. I usually post in the Spotters' Thread, but this time my post is about something a BIT different.
It seems like it has died down since I read about this a few years ago, but I was wondering if anyone wants to do the Thanksgiving Day Car Gathering at the Rock, which is right next to the Museum of Science and Industry. It sounds like a fun thing, and it could be even better if we got some Ferraris to come. Hopefully the weather is good enough to get some people to come out and enjoy a nice cruise up to Evanston and back. Maybe even grab some lunch after?

Ferrarichat member MidwestSCC (Andrew) plans to attend if the weather holds off, and I will be his copilot.
I hope many of you can make it out there. It will be my first run, but it'd be cool to see some of you guys out there!

You're right. A number of us used to do it for several years, then everyone must have tired of it. I showed up the past two years and even thou people said they were coming no one showed up.

 

I should be free so I'm in if the weather isn't bad!

 

Unless someone would want to take me along in their car, I'd love to provide photography while on the road but I can't do that if I'm driving.

I would however, I'm hosting Thanksgiving for 20 people and the toys are already tucked away for the winter. It was fun getting there early and being the first group on Bill's TV show each year, I think we were successful like four years in a row. Then crusing up LSD for a late breakfast and photo shoot along the lake was fun. We had a great shot of us warming ourselves from Carla's 355 one very cold year, lol. Hope the weather holds and you have a great time.

Thanks for sharing, Dan! I remember looking at those a while back and thinking "wow, looks like a whole lot of fun!" Wish you were in town.

 

The sad thing is, I am coming back for Thanksgiving, but I land around noon on the day of.

 

We should drive to the airport and pick up Dan

Matt, I'll be sending out an invite to some of my friends shortly. What time should we meet and what time will we be leaving?

 

Meet at 8 and leave at 9? Is that too wide of a time to get there, meet up, and leave? Maybe they should get there between 8 and 8.30 and we can leave at 9?

 

Wish I could make it, but no way with two toddlers and Thanksgiving plans later. Don't know how I missed this event for previous years (first time seeing it).

 

Well if you want to be on TV, the best bet is to get there by 7:00 am. Lately it's getting even earlier. Bill from Motor Sports TV always does a show taping for this event. He always interview the first person and first club there. That usually is over by 9:00 by the time they setup and do the actual interview. Then we used to drive up LSD for some lake front photo shoots and then off to breakfast. Oh the good old days.

 

That's okay. Maybe next year haha.

No, the plans fell through and many people couldn't make it. Maybe next year...

 

Thanksgiving is one of the worst holidays to pick for a get together. I doubt it will work any year.

 

Well it did for us for about 4 or 5 years. Maybe again with a new crew.

 

That's what I was hoping/hope for next year.
