Thank you. We rescheduled the remainder of our trip which was going to take us from Laos and back into Vietnam, and avoided any problems. Gilly ordered the book on Amazon and just got an email saying it has been dispatched so I look forward to a great read when we arrive home!

That's a standard 288 GTO, one of the cars built to satisfy FIA Homologation for Group B, so its not a "Group B Spec" car as is the case with the GTO Evoluzione. The video producers got that one wrong, but surely I can't be alone in wishing they got something else wrong.

I just received my copy of Joe's book, sooner than expected. Great reference book and nice to see so many in period pictures. I'm going to browse the chassis number section the most. The chapter on the Evoluzione version is a bit sparce IMHO but other than that, a must have.

Joe, I've sent my photo to the print shop and I should be able to post it to you this weekend. I'm curious if you can guess where I took that picture. :)

    Best, Peter

    Great, thanks Peter.

I should point out that in fact not much is known about the GTO Evoluzione because it really was an "unofficial" factory car. Having said that, I am the only one who has spoken to car's father Ingegnere Nicola Materazzi about it, and if you noticed he sspoke about it exclusively and supplied some hitherto unpublished images of it.

    Hi Joe,

just to let you know my book arrived today in Belgium, so will have some happy reading over the weekend.

Had a first look and looks very interesting with nice pictures.

Will be scrolling through the VIN section to find out how many were delivered in Belgium so that I can find one (when I win the lottery... ;-)

    Best regards,
    Frank

Its never a continued straight line in one direction. I actually think things have cooled a bit.

Because of the GTOs rarity, there are never more than just a few available.

That is the first time I've ever seen the side-view mirrors actually twisted sideways on a 288 in photo or in person.
Most people are probably too afraid to touch them but nice to see the transporter did it just to be safe.
    Definitely looks odd though.

I had to fold one two weeks ago on my friend's car. It's not as hard as one might think, but it does look weird, that's probably why I felt like I had to take a picture of it! I suppose the fact the rear part of the car seems to be wider than the front with unfolded mirrors is why people usually don't bother doing it.

    Excellent!

    I just noticed Veloce's tee-shirt promo.

Veloce Publishing - Automotive stuff: WIN A VERY RARE FERRARI 288 GTO T SHIRT!

Those are shirts my wife made up for the Reunion, all the drivers got them, there are none left! Cool to see they kept what we sent them.
