There was an episode with a black 80 model. He was worried about a repaint because of the "lack of originality"

I don't recall the details now but I remember laughing out loud because about half a dozen other things were incorrect about that particular car. Frankly, the only thing I didn't notice (couldn't) was the paint. No one else knew on the show.

Wayne has bought, sold, owned, and restored multi-million dollar Ferrari's doc. I'm sure he is capable of nailing every detail when required. Sometimes it's a conscious trade-off and other times the show is edited as well.

Just to speak to your example - tracking down a ton of missing details on an 80 is going to cost a ton and is one of the least valuable 308s - vs. glass, carbed, or QV. He might have said - well I can spend 5k on paint, or 5k tracking down details. A lot of people shopping for an 80 308 will not know the details; they will definitely notice a brand new black paint job.

Having spoken to Wayne about a Lusso I can say that he's a lot better informed than the show conveys. The show is about wide market entertainment and much of what we'd find fascinating would have most tuning out.
All in all its great exposure for the hobby.

I agree. Watching over a period of time, you get a true sense of how much knowledge this guy really has. If they spent the time for him to go into minute detail, each episode would be 10 hours long, not one (or are they half an hour, I can't remember, LOL). All we really get are the highlights. But I do find the shows interesting, and some of the cars are incredible, especially when he goes to Pebble Beach or some of the other shows.

When I get home tonight, definitely setting the DVR to record tomorrow night!! :D

    My mistake.

I was talking about another of those shows. They all just seem the same to me. Either way, it really wasn't a big deal but it just seemed funny to me that the paint being non-original was almost a deal killer but the fact that half the interior had been replaced - incorrectly - seemed not only fine, but no one even seemed to notice.

Would love to catch this episode, 700 miles from home on location at a natural gas plant being built. Would be great if one of you guys could later post a link where I could watch via my IPhone...

Different show. That one was on CNBC and called 'Car Chasers'

I own that 80 GTBi now, and while it has many incorrect items, it has been a blast and wonderfully reliable.

    Ah that makes sense.

Yah - there are a ton of shows on now...and a lot of people with big heads about being on tv.

The truly Germaine question is : What will Roger the mechanic say about our beloved 308s.

I'm trying to remember a "newer" car that they've featured.

He is going to say they suck. I hope I am wrong, but I doubt it.

Roger might. I would be surprised if Wayne would have anything negative to say about the 308. His shop seems to have them for sale occasionally and I remember a commercial segment that Wayne used to do for the Velocity Channel, Speed Channel then, where he talked about collecting Ferraris of various price levels. The three models in the short segment were the 308, 550 and I believe the third one was a 166mm barchetta. Wayne did comment during the segment that the 308 was a “solid car and a good value”.

The episode is called: Wayne Meets Triplets

"When Wayne gets a lead on a cache of three 308 Ferraris in a nearby garage, he shows up ready to buy and with a trailer in tow. Then, while Roger works on a belt job, Wayne puts on his sales hat to drum up clients for two more Ferrari’s, a 275 and a 430."

That is the short that led me to buy my car! He ended it saying something like "you don't have to spend a million dollars to own a Ferrari".
If I had only been watching something else....I'd have another house!

I'm dying to see this episode I don't remember Wayne ever having a 308 on any of his shows as a feature car. I'm curious to see which years he finds I'm figuring one would be the 2 valve GTBI that he had on his website recently and sold and another the carb car he has now curious what the 3rd will be.
