My spy at Sebring called last evening to report the weekend's activities.

Evidently, the Delta Wing experienced a lot of difficulties in the early sessions
and had to be towed back to the paddock a number of times. They got better
though the day however and ran more reliably.

Driver who made the biggest impression was Christian Fittipaldi.

btw I think it's interesting to note that the DP's don't have the spine/shark fin that P2s, F1, Indy, et al have had for YEARS to prevent flipping. just sayin'.

That, and some tire problems as well it seems.

the tires are what caused the accidents.

lack of the spine/shark fin caused/contributed to the blowovers.

if you're on teh twitters, Jeff Braun (Level 5's chief engineer, Colin Braun's dad) has an interesting commentary on the tire failures.

I think that's going to get looked at as a secondary contributing factor. Maybe a new rear cowling will be next on the upgrade list?

Better they're learning this now rather than at the 24 Hours.

Yeah, impressive that the fastest DP bettered last years Rolex pole time by something like 1.5 seconds already and they have about a 1.5 second spread thus far over the LMPs. Lets see what day #2 shows us & hopefully the LMP's can make up some ground. I was talking with S Mayer on Saturday night and he was pretty stoked about the DP mods and how much faster they anticipated them to be.
