Not to re litigate the Massa question, but can't he be one of the most honorable, likable and put upon drivers while still being something other than the best choice for Ferrari's second seat? At this level of racing they're all hugely talented. What differences there are tend to be of motivation and consistency. Phil has nothing to be ashamed of. Came closer to a WDC than the vast majority of those who've ever driven F1. But Ferrari can do better.
I didn't say he was anything but good. But as a good driver he will beat a mediocre one. Therein lies precisely the problem: The lovable and honorable guy has been in that seat for way too long. Ferrari should have sacked him right after his accident or if they really felt like being a social club then one year after his comeback. And as long as there are folks around here who constantly defend the guy and think Ferrari is actually unfair to him, I will steer against that course. This coming from a guy who stated that a 30 seconds difference in F1 doesn't really matter. I don't remember saying that but why not? At least Maldonado managed to win in a back marker Williams. Something Massa will never achieve.
Finally, good riddance from Ferrari. For his last final act of massively sucking, Massa took a stupid drive through penalty that was entirely his own fault, and the points he lost were directly responsible for dropping Ferrari from 2nd to 3rd in the Constructors Championship. (Before anyone tries to claim the drive through penalty was unfair - Autosport posted: Analysis: Why Massa was penalised during Brazilian GP - F1 news - AUTOSPORT.com , along with this photo explaining the lines in question: http://cdn.images.autosport.com/editorial/1385325410.jpg . The drivers were warned about crossing the track edge hatched section with 4 wheels "off track" in the pre-race briefing; several drivers including Massa were warned during the race to stop going all 4 wheels across the track edge hatched section, including a broadcast of the radio message of Webber being warned by his team to stop going over that section. The BIG difference - only Massa was stupid enough to continue going 4 wheels across that section after all the warnings; the other drivers actually heeded the warnings and stopped crossing the lines there) Some will claim that the penalty was unfair because Massa didn't gain any advantage - the logical counterpoint would be that if he wasn't gaining any advantage, and had been repeatedly warned to NOT drive over that section, why did he continue to drive over that section of the lines?? Stupid, stupid, stupid, totally 100% Massa's own error... and he cost Ferrari millions in Constructors Championship payments with his ignorant stupid deliberate penalty. Massa sucks now more than ever. Again, good riddance.
I knew that we were going to have fun here after Massa´s last race. Not a good last race. Even the donuts he made at the end were not that great. But oh, well, he´s Williams´ problem now. Wish him well.
Well the good news is that this thread doesn't die as Massa will now set about Williams in a typically value destructive way in 2014. Shame for Williams. I really hoped they would be able to turn themselves around next year.
Good point but if he had been in fourth place Fred stated that he would have moved over and let Phil grab the last podium spot in his last Ferrari drive in front of his home crowd. Phil yesterday=dummy...

I will miss him at Ferrari and also Weber. I for one do not think Vettel is that great a driver and would not be surprised if he was getting favored treatment at the team for being Red Bull's golden boy. I wish we could switch cars for one of the races to see if I was right ….
