I think that game might be the nail in the coffin for Muschamp.
A couple big upsets today...Gators at home & AZ crushes Oregon...and a surprising beatdown by LSU on Johnny Football...at least one more big one to come...Hotty Toddy!
Wow, just saw that the Eagles had zero passing yards... Ga. Southern (0 pass yards) shocks Florida ...and... ...ouch! Maybe the Gators can payroll deduct Muschamp for that one!
Just got out of the FSU game. Beat Idaho 80-14. Not saying much really, but it's better than losing to an FCS team...
Doubt it. I feel like he'll be here for another year. Foley will say the injuries (starters in particular) made this season look bad and reference last year as proof. He should've been fired after the Vandy game.
True. But Gainesville is becoming very divided I'm sure. And even with the injuries, they've lost some games that they should have won easily. But that's football.
Shucks, my Rebels didn't look good...too many mistakes especially near the goal and thus not able to finish drives. A blowout victory over the Bullpuppies in the Egg Bowl next week will ease the pain nicely! Hotty Toddy! As a SEC homer I'm a bit torn how I want the season to play out but should be easy to guess how I want it to end... Battle of undefeated teams Bama/FSU has a chance to be an awesome game...but it would be great for the conference if FL beats them...not that I'd bet on that happening. I'd love to see Bama thrash OSU but I think they'll lose to either UM or MSU. Clemson will lose to SC (another feather in the SEC's cap)...or Duke eek. Baylor will lose to TX to send Mack Brown out with a victory. Auburn gets a 2 point victory over Bama in an epic Iron Bowl. Missouri will beat A&M but lose to Auburn in the BCS semi-finals. BCS title game is a SEC West lovefest (again)...Bama vs. Auburn...Tigers won the battle...but...Tide win the war...Saban three-peats...on his way to TX. SEC!
Rankings should be interesting this week. The ugly losses Baylor and Oregon suffered should send them tumbling out of the top ten and make the Iron Bowl #1 vs #4. FSU only has to win out and hope their QB isn't rotting in jail by Friday. OSU will play a team they should beat (UM), but hopefully Mich State can bring it in the Big 10 championship. Clemson/SC will be a good game next week, as will Mizzou/A&M. Mizzou wins and they are an unlikely champ of the SEC East.
My worst nightmare as a Gator fan would be an FSU-OSU title game. I'm praying Bama wins out or a 1 loss Auburn (if they somehow beat Bama) leapfrogs an undefeated FSU or OSU team, which is doubtful. My dream scenario is my Gators beating FSU knocking them out of the running and Bama killing OSU in the title game making Urban look like an idiot again like the 2009 SECCG.
Rivalry games can always go either direction, but I see what you mean being Auburn is at home and also top 5. :/
Auburn is straight up explosive on offense-they are going to put up points. But the Tide has seen this movie a ton of times the last few years-Bama has the most complete team in the country and experience really does matter. The early line is -10.5, but I say it will be tighter with auburn at home
Danny Sheridan has it at 9.5, which I still find surprising big. I'm thinking more like 6-7 but then again I'm not a bettin' man. No line yet on FSU/FL...I wonder why. EDIT... A look back on the very early line, as in June... http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/index.ssf/2013/06/early_betting_lines_have_alaba.html Things are a bit different now.
Just saw Auburn pushed up to #4 in the AP. this is only the 2nd time both teams have been top 5 heading into the iron bowl?
Written before the poll came out... Unprecedented: Mother of all Iron Bowls could feature highest-ranked meeting between Alabama, Auburn | AL.com ...until now.
I don't think anybody will be betting on the Noles-at least until mid week-you might be getting a 3rd string quarterback! All jokes aside I'm praying nothing really bad actually happened-for everybody involved of course
The thing I want to see in this game is how well Bama scores under pressure-when they need points and aren't just piling on. That's where homefield advantage really kicks in with mistakes, second guessing, etc. It's a good good match up-and a good tune up game for the Nat championship
