Automotive porn, I can't wait to see the fully assembled engine and dyno results prior to install into the car! Alex
Another split post. Both heads on. Note cam covers yet to be finished. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Next stage to fit the fuel rails etc, but actually starting to look like an engine. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bah, that looks like heck. Tear it down and do it again. Kidding! *ducks* Fabulous progress there. I am consistently amazed at Ferrari and their love for that V8 engine. That engine block didn't really ever change much from its inception in the mid 70s through to the 360! That F40 block is pretty much interchangeable with a 308 block. Love it
Great pictures! Fantastic to see the progression. On the head gaskets, did you stay the same thickness, but go with a more modern MLS gasket? Edit- I think you've answered the question once before, I just can't remember.
I should be able to answer that question better than I can. All I know is that they are LM spec, currently used in race F40 engines and better able to tolerate higher boost etc.
Am always amazed how small and compact the F40 engine is...The last 3 pictures shows that perfectly! Amazing progress as usual Tim!!
Peope I know who, while they may know a bit about cars and have heard of the F40, are always amazed that it's such a (relatively) small capacity engine. They always seem to think that a 200 mph car has to have a hulking great 6 litre+ V12.
Strikes me that the motor is tiny, the driveline massive by comparison. Quick update-belts on! Image Unavailable, Please Login
