I have a factory tour and atelier visit set up for next Friday (11/29). Anyone who has been there and done that, and can give any pointers/advice I would appreciate it. I assume cameras are not permitted in the factory. Also, I was offered a choice of lunch or dinner at either Montana or Il Cavallino. Any suggestions?

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Yes. - I was there in March 2012; my wife & I did the factory tour, our kids went through the museum with my sister. We all did the Fiorano bus tour together.
You cannot take pictures anywhere except the museum. They put a sticker over your phones camera as well. The food at Montana is the best meal we had in Italy; go there for dinner, so you're not rushed.
    Go to Cavallino for lunch....
Walk around the area and soak it all in, buy some lambrusco at the local store....nice quaint little town that we all loved.
Italy can be hectic, Maranello was nice and relaxing

I went last month, and stayed a for three days with my wife. We went to Modena for a day and went to the new Enzo Ferrari Museum and then found a lovely Resturant for lunch.
Lunch on day 2 in the Montana, and dinner at Opera 92; either was owned or favoured by Pavarotti - excellent! And after the factory tour we went to the Cavallino, which again was very good.
No cameras allowed inside the factory itself.

You ll have a blast leave the iPad cameras and phones in your rental car or hotel. Eat at both places you can not do better.
That factory blows away all others. Try to watch Dream Cars how its made as you won't see everything but you have visited automotive nirvana and Ferrari factory tour town visit should be on everyone's bucket list!

    Best regards

We have yet to make it to the factory (almost did when at Mugello a few weeks ago, but our kids are too young so we decided to skip it).

However, at Mugello, Ferrari had moved the Atelier there for the weekend, so we spent almost 2 hours with Elena working on our F12 and Speciale specs. The choices and options are a bit overwhelming, so might suggest you look at as many images and consider as many ideas as you can to make that session most productive. Having said that, Elena and Michele (the V8 marketing manager) were incredibly helpful and capable.

We had studied the various "special requests" books our dealer had given us, but even still there were dozens of ideas that we had not considered - we also had a few ideas we liked that they talked us out of.

May sound strange, but I'd "study" a bit for the Atelier and if your appointment is after the tour, keep an eye out for new ideas you see in production.

It will be an awesome time! Il Cavallino is a great experience! Make sure you see the room where they store the private F1 cars! You'll have a great time!

I did the same - and ordered my Rosso Dino Spider at the Atelier.
Do your research before you go and be prepared to spend twice as much as planned as one tends to get carries away at the Atelier on customization.
I asked to see all the places most people cannot go to such as pre delivery service area and where they store all the cars before shipment (very dusty garage - nothing like the eat from the floor factory floor).
    Good luck...

I was just there a little over 4 months ago in July 2013. See this thread for my experience, it was the best time ever!

How do you set up a tour at the Ferrari factory? Is it through their website or the dealer?

I was there last month. Factory tour is nice. No pictures are allowed on the factory grounds. I prefer Montana to Il Cavallino although both are good.

I was there in December to spec my Aperta. I always go to Montana as the food is better. Also if you have a chance try ad get lunch or dinner at Osteria Francescana in Modena - excellent restaurant and I think one of the top ranked in the world. You need to book that in advance and be a little flexible. Last time I was wait listed and managed a table as they gave me a call on the day.

Can you please clarify? Will Ferrari allow us to take delivery of our cars in Italy at the factory ?

I have done 3 BMW European Deliveries and 1 Mercedes and this would be a great edition to my experience. I am thinking of ordering a 488 GTB and picking up at the factory would be awesome. Please let me know...

    Thank you !

Unfortunately, Ferrari does not offer a European Delivery program, like BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, etc.

Montana definitely the one to go. Cavallino was disappointing.

If you mean factory collection, Ferrari do do that. 100% certain. You need to agree it through your dealer and there is a cost attached to it. There is usually more demand than supply so you can be disappointed - not everyone is able to do it.
