    Hey guys!

I will likely be visiting the Simeone Museum (hopefully work won't prevent me) to do some video work for them. I'm coming from Michigan, and I am hoping to find other car stuff to do during the weekend, whether in Philly, New Jersey, Delaware, or any of the surrounding areas. Any other museums, dealerships, ect you would recommend?

Someone told me about Manheim auctions, is that a place you can visit even when there is no auction going on, just to see the cars?

I tried calling the JWR Museum, but it seems they are not giving tours right now.

Thank you so much for your time.

    Regards,

    Chris

I'm driving over this Friday and for the weekend. That is, if I can work something out at my job. I'll be at the driving demonstration at the Simeone on Saturday, but I'd like to find at least one other thing to check out on the long trip.

Check out the cars and coffee near West Chester PA. Follow the thread on here.Depending on where you are staying its probably not that far. If the weather is good you get a decent turnout. Summer typically upwards of 40 cars. Winter on a sunny day maybe 20 cars. Some really strong enthusiast in this area. Jon in Delaware

If you go to Simeone, go Saturday at noon. This is their monthly run day, and they will be running the Corvette Grand Sport, Cobra Daytona Coupe, Ford Mk. II and Porsche 917L (the "hippie" car that finished 2nd at Le Mans).

Well, I know I'm gonna offend you by saying this, but as a real member of the legitimate Press, I think you mean you're getting in for free. A YouTube channel is not the "press". You guys that love to get a good seat for stuff need to realize that you are putting real journalists out of business with your hobby. You also end up in areas that make it harder for journalists to get the image that will put food on the table for their family.
It's great that you bought a nice camera and like to play on the computer but doing work for free is a great way to devalue products and put a dent in an already crappy economy.
As a hobbiest you probably don't carry liability insurance and don't necessarily have any training and experience in a situation with priceless objects . Do you know how many times you could put the other people in a crowd in jeopardy by taking the wrong step or being in the wrong place, where a car with 50 year old brakes has to swerve because a "pro" with a website makes a wrong move.
I love to watch at the car shows as "pros" rub their belt buckles against the side of a priceless car as they stretch inside to get a drivers view for their YouTube channel.
I know you'll think I'm a ranting lunatic but if you ever get to the point where you can earn your entire living with a camera for 20 or 30 years then you should represent yourself as a pro.

It sure is the "press" now! Wake up and smell the new era. Newspapers and magazines are now so antiquated.

Well then, you "real journalists" should put out a better product! If Simeone selects a Youtube guy over your product, then that is really pathetic, and telling, isn't it?

Oh boo-hoo, cry me a river. Sounds like you just don't want competition from the new media journalists!

Ahem. Studies have shown that approx. 90% of "real journalists" have voted for Obama, so I really don't have any sympathy for you. And I also don't like Obama's "crappy economy" that your ilk has helped bring upon us.

Oh, BTW, AxerJk might be doing it for free now, but if he's good (and obviously Simeone thinks he is), he'll start charging later.

Thanks Jon! I most certainly will, I've been to the Simeone a number of times and I will probably be coming back again in the future. It's a shame that I can't make it to cars and coffee, since it happens at the same time as the Simeone driving demonstrations. I love going to cars and coffee events, seeing some great cars and meeting great people.

    Chris,

I liked your Pantera and Espada videos. I'd like to make a request (not that you are taking requests, but..). In your videos can you spend more time touring the car with the camera showing the interior and under the hood details as well as the exterior coachwork (like what you did with the Pantera Interior)? I realize your segments are relatively short, but I would gladly trade the dash-cam footage (which to me is the same from any car) for more exploring under the hood. I like the drive-by and go-pro exterior mount stuff - those are awesome cars! Also, you have a good on-camera presence, if you have a chance to interview the owners on camera about their cars, I think it would work well. Have fun at SImeone!

    Thanks for the support Don.
This doesn't actually compete against me because I do get paid to do stories on Simeone, but Josh is legitimately going to college for filmmaking and it does hurt his income directly. He does not ever ask for Media Credentials without a legitimate client.
If Simeone loved this guys videos so much they would have paid him to come down here and shot for them. That is what makes people professional.

I guess some people can't see outside their own world. That's why this country is in such great shape.

The difference in quality should show through, between hobbyists and professionals, right? "You get what you pay for"? Right? What is Bob, aka "rcraig" worried about? Face it, rcraig wants a type of "closed union shop", which is clearly an anti-entrepreneurial, socialist type of workplace. Youtube is clearly a great format for a person new to the industry to show his/her talents.

As for me, your argument is not applicable. I trade stocks and bonds for a living and I am self-employed, with no employees, trading full-time for my own account to feed my family of 6, with 3 in college at the present time. I have been doing it for 20 years now. Everyone else who does what I do, also does it for free! We WELCOME all new traders as they provides more liquidity.

And let's get real relevant here for MY industry..Investment bloggers often give out their financial analysis for free for a while, and then start charging later when they decide to do a newsletter after gathering followers from the blog. SeekingAlpha is such a place. The current newsletter writers who are charging their subscribers, do not WHINE about the bloggers who give away their analysis for free.

rcraig should stop the whining, better his product, and tell his colleagues to stop voting for Democrats.

    Hi Dave,

Thank you very much for your input! I do agree, that is something I have been working on. I've been realizing lately that "pure sound" videos get monotonous pretty quick, and that the videos that tell a story are much more interesting. I plan to do more commentary in my videos at the Simeone, instead of exclusively filming a car driving in circles for 5 minutes.

I appreciate you taking the time to give your feedback - this is the kind of stuff I need! Often times, my subscribers will make very favorable comments, whether a video is great or excruciatingly boring. They are just being generous, but it doesn't really help me understand what will make a video more interesting.

    Bob,

Unfortunately, it takes two to tango. I sell to professional photographers for MY living, and it's a tough row to hoe any more, but I don understand professional photographers, from sports to portrait to newspaper. (I also did a stint in my youth shooting sports for The Today's Post, so I understand that side as well.)

If Dr Simeone is "hiring" a YouTube videographer and all he's paying is a "press pass" in return, well then who is really at fault? Did Fred ask for press credentials? Probably not. As a non-profit, you can certainly understand his desire to do stuff on the cheap if he can.

Ultimately, the concept of trickle down economy has become antiquated. Folks don't consider the effect of their actions. Dr. Simeone certainly doesn't think he's harming anyone by allowing Axerjk to video his cars, all he knows he IS getting free publicity, Axerjk is getting some value as well, in experience and exposure.

Should he have a "press pass" for his spot to work this event? Not my call. It's the museum's call, and as long as Axerjk didn't misrepresent himself, then it's not really his fault that he's getting a ringside seat to produce a video for the day's events.

I know you work hard to defend the "traditional news" format, and that you want Josh to succeed, but ultimately, this is the way the world is going, and either we adapt, or we get chewed up.

If online is where, ultimately the money is to be had, then you need to exploit that outlet. Maybe shooting the video pays nothing, but generating traffic to YouTube, and ultimately to one's own site, certainly can. It's just become a different revenue stream, but then end result is the same. Shoot an event, earn some money from the shots.

Not saying there's a right or wrong here, just saying it's no longer black and white, it's multiple layers of grayscale.

    Dave

"Mis-represent". That's the word Dave. I would love to see some proof that Simeone contacted him as he said. Remember his first post said he was working for the museum. It's all bs Dave. Same crap happens at Reading every year. I see this happen hundreds of times a year.
Unfortunately this is the way it's getting. People mis-represent themselves all the time on the f'in Internet.
Btw. Almost nobody is making any real money on YouTube except the shareholders of YouTube. There is so much crap on it no one can sort all the bullsh't.
People get to see a bunch of poorly done videos on YouTube of cars and chicks and idiots skateboarding off park railings. Don't see many of the tens of millions of videos out there that you can look at and say "wow, great video". It's the subject that is the draw. A real pro goes out and can make a good or great video of anything. That's the difference Dave.

I just think its pathetic that we have gotten to this Facebook way with the world. It's all about "hey look at me"

At least I can say to myself. "look what I can make, or do, or produce."

Lots of people on here have known me for years and can think whatever they want. I don't care. I did my research before I shot my mouth off initially, but some latecomers to this C&C thing have decided that they can insult me because of what I do for a living. What a world. I sign my work everyday and can say I have changed some people's lives in positive ways that aren't just based on greed.
When it comes time to shuffle off this planet, I personally won't be thinking, "boy I wish I had made more money". It's just not that important.

As far as everyone bad-mouthing the press, how come so many hundreds of millions of people want to become a member of it. What do people think all the blogs and websites and YouTube channels are trying to do other than be reporters and journalists. Eventually nobody will give a crap where we're having dinner or what movies we are gonna watch. Face it the average person out there has an opinion that is just that. An opinion based on nothing and with no balance what-so-ever.
