It is interesting to hear from Lee as very few folks have owned such a variety of cool cars(that aren't dealers or flippers).

So, I stand corrected. You have the MkI. You are a man of taste.

FE? No, that is a designation (Ford Edsel) for many Ford Blocks of that era. SO stands for Side Oiler.

Not familiar with the Gelsco product. The spec sheet in the books I have state the original chassis of the original GT was steel on a steel platform. I don't know what Gelsco is building it out of. Looks aluminum.

Yes, many of us from the forum put in $ to help sponsor the car on behalf of the forum. I have my Matech LeMans console plaque proudly displayed in the cockpit. So you are apparently aware of the Matechs performance. Not shabby at all was it? Doubt any original GTs could have kept pace.

The Nurembergring lap times are available on line and you can research it. There are articles that discuss the times of the original cars at the Ring. The original cars are way behind the times posted by the new GT. Way behind...and thats way behind the street version.

Yes, I am on the FGT forum from time to time. Don't know Ed or follow his car. Just asked a question.

As to the Go Pro video, more proof that the driver is the most important performance part in the equation.

    Cheers.

Your car is my office computer background, thanks for that!

William, Your car is the car from Detroit if it has around 10k miles on it. I have a picture of it sitting in their showroom send me a pm if you want the picture. They had 2 cars when I was there and seem to have 3 now. The owner himself had a collection of them and their GM had one as well.

Exactly Lee. We both know that Saleen knows a thing or two about building cars. :)

By the way I really enjoyed your story about the Z06 and I do like the Z06, although I prefer the GT.;) Every now and then everybody needs a reality check.:)

Waxer, Gelscoe makes very high end GT40 replica's in Europe. Their cars have FIA certification and are allowed in vintage racing. Their tubs are built to be an exact replica of an original monocoque chassis and is done in steel. The GT40's chassis is a piece of art.

Okay now I am officially getting excited :)

They are really great cars. The guy that bought this will most likely sell it later and not lose any money.

    Thanks for posting this

    SO=Side Oiler.....yes, it's an FE.

Getting back to the FGT discussion....it's certainly not a "race car," but rather a GT, but one that can make 1000+ hp easily on the stock longblock with turbos......hell, without even a fuel injector upgrade.

Out of all my cars, if I could only keep one, this is it. Period. 1 of 15 Quicksilver stripe deletes.

A Z06 vs FGT straight line contest is really a drivers race, with the advantage going to the Ford when the Z06 hits its super tall 5th gear, if you dare to run over 140 mph. A stock Z06 traps ~124 mph at sea level in the 1/4 mile, so it's no slouch. I put a cam/headers on mine back in 2006, and it trapped 131 mph, better than a stock ZR1.

That same GT will hang right with a ZR1 or beat it if you do the simple pulley/tune mod. Amazing how much power the Ford engineers left on the table. 600 rwhp is child's play, and 750 rwhp is just a blower swap away.

Come down to TX sometime....we'll take the GT-TT for a spin. 900 whp on 93 octane. When that gets boring, we'll do the UGR car......

I am hyperventilating just thinking about it. I may have the vapors :)

In taxas you must have straight long roads that are empty so you can run these cars at some elevated speeds.

Here are some pics I took at a dealership next door while in for service. Saw these sitting outside so I walked over for a look.

It's a heritage model GT, the Shelby a Super Snake. The Shelby has 800Hp, the amiable owner said it dyno'ed 697hp to the rear wheels. I was taken aback at how much the car cost, the owner said over $190k. I have to admit I have never seen a cleaner engine bay, along with all the real carbon fiber and billet aluminum.

How much was the heritage GT going for?
This would be the color to get!

Last I checked, a Heritage GT was stupid money, a ridiculous premium IMO for what I think is paint and paint only. I'll bet they are $275K+. If I had to have that color scheme, I'd just wrap one.

People who can fork out 300 thousand for the Heritage don't care about the wrap....they want to know they have the real deal with corresponding VIN.

Same thing with a black Enzo. They are a pretty large spread too.

According to the dealer it originally sold for $260k new. No idea what it is worth now, perhaps north of 300k.

    Agreed !

If that owner did in fact pay $190 for that "KR800" mustang, than he is an idiot who got taken for a ride by the seller.

Even at $90 grand, which many of these Shelby cars went for new, is a total rip off IMO.
