This appears to be a spurious account, from what Iv'e seen so far... will search a bit more & report back if I find anything either way. It's a touching sentiment, but if it's a fake, it's revolting... just someone being an attention-whore or equivalent.

I agree - but as I said, at least it's only foolish, and would not be likely to get someone killed at those speeds.

    Not excusing it, just sayin'.

Just FYI for everyone, the donut and figure 8 marks on the street were already there. I'm not saying they weren't doing that stuff, but that spot always has people racing and drifting on the weekends.

If there is anything that this horrible tragedy can teach us, it's that an actors life is a precious, precious commodity. Just because he had chiseled abs, stunning features and millions of dollars from movies about street racing. It doesn't mean that we too can't not die in a freak supercar accident.

+1 Best post I've seen on this subject. I will not get into a Porsche CGT, I don't care who is driving it. Well maybe Alonso, Kimi or Lewis but outside of that, I'll admire from the sidewalk thank you very much.

I also heard that, but I saw this on a Facebook page with several other updates like this one and two things came to mind:
    1) Lots of father and daughter pictures - surely some of them are private enough that only the closest family had access to them. Account must be real.
    2) Who on earth is able to make a FB page right after their fathers death!? Account is probably fake!

    A little bit confusing.

I'm still bummed out, I have never felt so disturbed of any other celebrities death... Must be a car guy connection...

JC guys. If this ain't a wake up call for those who think public roads are their own personal little closed circuit what is? Put down the bong and wake up.

What's our next headline--"Errant Enzo claims 4 year old?"

    Hope not.

Nope - all I'm saying is that there are varying degrees of foolishness, are there not?

    I'm not excusing it.

    Drop the subject.

Probably no comparison whatsoever-- in fact the Mustang experience might have made it more likely he would respond incorrectly to yaw by the Porsche, no? (Oversteer under power in a Mustang you could probably correct for by lifting, which would be the wrong thing to do in a mid-engine car.)

Yes exactly, if he was in any type of turn or slide and lifted off the throttle the Porsche would spin quicky so fast I dont think Vic Elford or Schumacher could catch it by powering back on.

Mustangs understeer like a pig, heavy front engine and transmission, totally different techniques.

Porsche guys call it LTO. Lift Throttle Oversteer.

Looking at his bio at the Pirelli World Challenge he placed 2nd in the Porsche Drivers Cup in 2012, so I take it back he was very familar with Porsche clearly.

Who knows what happened in this accident, bad luck maybe, something broke, tire, many things. Maybe the CGT is a cursed car with flaws.

No amount of traction control can override bad decisions. This doesn't look like they were going 5mph over speed limit and blew a tire. 4 months ago a 430 Scud driver killed a person in Florida. These are tragic lessons for us all. Keep it safe out there. Pic: same car earlier this year.

I know all about Porsche have had many 911s and a 930 hopped up over 450hp, the CGT has had more than its share of fatalities with experienced drivers behind the wheel. Cursed as in design flaws or something similar.

    I would say "maybe."

What special skills other than a drivers license is needed to buy one?

So yes, cursed unless you REALLY REALLY REALLY know what you are driving.

It really is amazing how much influence these films had on a generation & an industry. Here's a screen shot from a local DFW meet holding a candlelight vigil, I was told the local ABC news affiliate was out there but not confirmed. I feel kinda bad that I missed out on this.

I don't think "cursed" is a technical term so it's best to take this with salt. But that said, the CGT is a car with some history. It's a matter of record that the test drivers warned Porsche about its unpredictability so bad behavior like this has an inevitable result.

That said, and regardless of "ongoing investigations", we all know this is the all-too-common result of too much speed in the wrong place. If you think joy ride hooning is okay, watch the sad tale unfold: No matter how strong their bond was in life, the late driver's family may well be cleaned out by Walker's estate. Just as yours or mine would be for taking a life while showing off.

Be safe. "Enjoy it in good health" ain't no joke.

Paul Walker, Roger Rodas and a couple hundred southern california automobile enthusiasts were there on Saturday for a benefit charity toy drive put together with Reach Out World Wide. ROWW is an organization founded by Paul Walker back in 2010 with aim to provide immediate aid around the world for disaster relief. Paul inspired many fellow automobile enthusiasts to reach out and help those in need at times of crisis. Most people are shock and stunned by the loss of a Hollywood actor, but Paul was much more than that. One of the biggest automobile enthusiast in Hollywood, a hands on philanthropist. I had the pleasure of meeting Paul shortly before the tragic accident, he is a genuine great guy.

While many people are speculating the exact cause of the accident and what transpired that day. I urge you to take a moment to look at the foundation he started Reach Out World Wide ROWW: Home and also its Facebook page to see the legacy he left behind. Paul and Roger spent their last day on earth organizing charity drives and finding ways to help victims of the Philippine Typhoon. Donate and help in honor of Paul and Roger memories.
