If anyone ever offers you a ride in the Cheetah it probably means your gonna end up in an unmaked grave out in the desert.
You got the idea! In my best godfather voice, "Michael, I want you to take him for a ride in the Cheetah". LOL
not sure what all the drama is about, nor care either authentic, or reproduction, it's a cool vehicle, please just make as a WIP thread, and post a bunch of photos, ignore the rest of nonsense IMO
Yeeeeesss Dennis? I keep waiting for you to finish the sentence, as it sounds like you had something important to add to this stimulating conversation....... ;-D. I too want to see more photos of it, as I was very acquainted with this vehicle - assisted the owner to restore it before it was sold to Roy. C'mon Roy, please post more pics - we know you have them! Len
Then you should have pics of that restoration and lot to say and add here... fell free to post whatever you wish.. I am sure the new owner would be happy to see and hear more of the vehicle
Hi Roy Yes I do have pics of the restoration of Larry's vehicle in progress.....not many though. Am I detecting a hint of unhappiness here? Len
Roy As far as posting pics and saying much (after I found this site many months after you bought it), I didn't think I should comment or interject into the warm discussion going on at the time - I figured you could handle it. I didn't have much to add at all, other than to dispute a certain party's allegations. I don't think it would've accomplished anything. I would have supplied you with information to directly refute an allegation that I could have cleared up, but I didn't see a need for that come up. You know, I really don't want to go in that direction, as it would probably just degenerate into a pissing match - which I will not participate in. I'd be glad to answer any questions that anyone - including you - would have if I can. Len
I am posting this pic (if I can figure out how) for Roy's benefit, in case he had some suspicions about whether or not I am acquainted with the Cheetah. The following info is for the benefit of the new owner. The owner always knew this was a prototype produced by Teledyne Continental and not the original, and he never represented it as the original show vehicle. As far as we knew, the original had been wrecked during testing, and it's whereabouts was unknown. As far as this vehicle having any parts from the original vehicle, we never considered it. It had a tag on the dash (passenger side) that was riveted on that said Pioneer Engineering out of Warren, Michigan. I will say that the printed (not embossed) info on the tag was almost obliterated during the refinishing of the dash, as the masking tape over it removed most of the printing. It probably could still have been read by special application of a light source. The tag was not removed for obvious reasons. The rivets were rusty, but the plate was aluminum. The vehicle had been stored outside for several years, so it was quite weathered. The previous owner (former employee of Teledyne) had painted it black. The 2nd owner (Larry) found by inspection that the original color was olive drab, and he wanted to stay with that. In fact, he wanted to keep it pretty much as he got it, as he balked at fabricating parts that were missing - such as the console and windshield, but would have done it if a prospective buyer wanted it done, although it would be a replacement, not a replica. The original wheels were hand fabricated, and the tires kept going flat, so Larry replaced them with off-the-shelf wheels. Unfortunately, he scrapped the wheels at some point, otherwise those wheels would have gone with the vehicle. The tires are the originals. The seats were redone. No changes were made by us to the wheelbase in any way. Body dimensions were not changed by us, nor did we have any info that they had been by the previous owner. When Larry's contact man (Carl) said someone he had talked to wanted photos, the vehicle was still partially disassembled, and some painting still had to be done. Larry told him he'd have to wait until he finished and got the thing in a presentable condition for photos - which took several weeks to accomplish. (Larry is very anal about paint.) That's the whole story of the big "conspiracy" and furtive "running into the woods" scenario. I'm sorry that there is not a more intriguing and clandestine plot here for the 007 types that may be out there, but those are the facts. BUT, there REALLY WERE woods, as you can see in the photos posted on LamboCars. Crap, it really wasn't too exciting at all. :-( Kind of like this post I suppose. It was fun to work on though. Driving it was neat, but it sure wouldn't turn on a dime. It was pretty snappy off the line and when you mashed the pedal. I don't have much more to add to what I said here. I will try to figure out how to post the few pics I have while working on the project though. Len Image Unavailable, Please Login

Splendid, Roy! I do have to confess though - I probably couldn't count how many times I had to sneak into the woods to furtively water the mushrooms. So......I showed you mine, so I dare you to show me yours!
is that all you have to say? your kidding right? I suspect an apology to the community is in order along w/ a refund to the new owner...you likely sold the contraption to the new owner at a premium as you were representing the "Cheeta" as the original show car. you tried to sell us all a story and many of us were not buying it!!
Chocked on your dinner..? was it mixed with CRACK? Re-read the entire thread and then see where it lands... Just as a "reminder" it was fully documented that the Cheetah was NEVER wrecked and WAS returned to the USA and in time SOLD to this company in Michigan....lets take it from there..
Walk it back Roy. You never said your car was the actual Geneva show car snd that your forensics supported same?
In fact Lot of bridges were burned because of this thread and caused problems for members and for Rob. It's one of the reasons Joey was recruited. It spilled over into other threads. I request this thread be locked. It has nothing to do with Lamborghini.
