    So the other night the weather was not so good, in fact, my chief pilot and woman said " Can you believe someone was flying in this weather?"

    Turns out this pilot ended up with just a few scratches, which was good. But I was wondering, how many pilots would admit they flew into a cloud and crashed? Of course it seems that is the right thing to do, tell what happened, or why it happened. In fact, isn't it required? But it got me thinking. What would a lawyer tell you to do? How long will he be suspended? He is very, very lucky, you should see the pictures of the crash site.

    Yes, my instructor for my PPL made me do 180-degree standard-rate turns while under the hood just in case I ever accidentally flew into a cloud while flying VFR.

    Not hard to do - assuming there are no mountains nearby. :eek:

    I don't know what happens when you have a plane crash re: licensing, etc but don't you think the investigation would find that out anyway? so I don't see any harm in stating what happened.

    seemed pretty out of it for sure...concussion? shock?

    He didn't seem out of it to me at all, just a little shook up and understandably so. Been there, done that.

    He was just trying to save the first responders a little trouble. The 911 dispatcher kept asking dumb questions as though he had been driving down the road looking at street signs and county line markers.

    But then again, it probably isn't every day you get a call from someone that was in the crash, it usually comes from someone on the ground who saw it happen or found it and can give a location.

    For someone who just crashed landed, I think he did really well, communicating with 911.
