Lets hope Ferrari does the same with the 458 replacement, less weight and still N/A

What do we know about F458's successor regarding build material. Are they staying with aluminium? I don't know if it's going to be possible to build a substantially lighter car while staying with, basically, the same platforma(360-430-458). Lambo(and Audi) will introduce a completely new, fully modular platform for the Gallardo replacement, that can use both aluminium and composite structure when and where needed.

AFAIK, no, VAG has invested heavily into technology that allows cost-efficient bonding of composite materials with metals. So they will use a combination of the two. And this technology will also trickle down to cheaper Audis and VWs eventually.

I don't think that California succesor will have turbocharged engine because of emission norm, Amedeo Felisa say that will still build cars with naturally aspirated V12, so there is no problem with emission in big V12?

yeah, but those big V12s will have batteries and KERS-like systems to lower CO2 numbers.
For California, I think it even makes sense to go the FI route, after all it's a big, GT cruiser, not a track weapon.

I don't think it will gain much weight, if any... it can use an electric motor in front instead of the second gearbox. I don't think it will be the same system, but we'll see.

no, but it's probably not that much since it's not a "proper" hybrid as in the Prius, or even 918, style. It's more of a boost-like addition, that is not as energy demanding as being able to run on batteries alone. I do think that Ferrari will probably make a prius-like hybrid V12. Maybe not in the next 5 years, but eventually, yes.

Audi R18 e-tron quattro uses a flywheel like energy recovery system. For that, there is no place in a production vehicle(not to mention that it's rather noisy). Lambo will not use hybrid technology in their cars in the forseeable future, and when/if they do, it will probably be battery based or maybe super capacitors.

i drove a gallardo performante spyder back to back with regular 458 and ferrari was a much more advanced experience. biggest difference was the steering feel which was heavy and numb in gallardo vs light and lively in 458. next was transmission with gallardo using a dramatic but artificial feeling lurch vs instantaneous shift with dct.

new lambo will look awesome but needs big improvment in drivability. i also hope they will offer a stick shift option. that would help distinguish them from competition

no stick shift in the gallardo replacement. we know that. it will have DCT from the 2014 R8.

what is FI? force induction as in turbo or supercharging?

the v10 is getting maxed out at around 600hp without turbo or supercharging. who knows what lambo will do after the gallardo replacement.

i hope the gallardo replacement will have active suspension a la MP4-12c. that would greatly improve gallardo trackability.

so that means no stick shift in audi either?

american cars are going to be only ones left with stick. this might be like live rear axles.

    No ways manual will happen.
Manual shifting is too slow for these supercars these days and will not keep up with these constantly improving faster cars... Unfortunately.
