Will these 348 wheels fit my 85 Mondial QV? 9" rear wheels will fit without rubbing or sticking out.

    Front 215/50/17 ZR 7.5 inch offset 49
    Rear 255/45/17 ZR 9 inch offset 43

    Hey Sweet928,

Your rear tires, as noted in your post (255/45/17) are going to be a bit shorter in height than the stock 255/50/17. Since the "45" is a wider tire, it makes that same 255 (diameter) number - feel like me when I was younger and almost six feet tall. Gee, now I'm stretching like hell to be 5' 11" :):) As for "sticking out" - relax, you're nowhere near having your wheels sitting outside the body/fender line :(:(.

    Cheers, Hank

Hi Hank, So is a 9" rear wheel going to be inside the body line? That's my main concern. I know others have used 9" rears but I am not quite clear if they fit inside the body lines or not. I don't want my wheels sticking out. I can't quite tell from pictures of other Mondials with 348 wheels.

Lots of Mondial owners have switched to the 348 wheel. I think that only if the wheel has been altered for whatever reason, could all the "assurances" be thrown out of the window.

Again, a stock 9" 348 (unaltered) wheel, mounted with proper sized rubber, should be awesome on your Mondi.

Be patient - - we'll check out what's available. 348 wheels are very obtainable. Why? - OK, I think the 348 guys that don't like their wheels, (which number quite a few), will purchase (whatever), and then offer their stock 348 wheels for a price that is quite reasonable. It may be one of the few "cheap deals" in the Ferrari market.

    Cheers, Hank

I've got a few being offered to me. They all have the same size tires in the rear. Is that size tire going to be a problem and/or look bad?

Do I need new rear AND front longer wheel bolts? Or just rear? I know I can get them from Hill engineering.

Sorry - can't comment regarding bolt length required. I did notice however, that in the book "Original Ferrari V8" by Keith Bluemel (good one to have), stock 348 wheels and tires are as follows:

    Front - 7.5 X 17 ........ 215/50/ZR17 - diameter 25.4"
    Rear - 9 X 17 ........ 255/50/ZR17 - diameter 27.04"

Your Mondi would run stock wheels as follows"

    Front - 7 X 16 ....... 205/55/ZR16 - diameter 24.9"
    Rear - 8 X 16 ....... 225/55/ZR16 - diameter 25.7"

Stock 348 is WAY taller than stock Mondi. With whatever tire you choose for the 17s, you want to match the Mondi's stock diameter so as to keep RPMs to revs, stock. BTW, my post #2 in this thread is worthless based on the differences between stock 348 and Mondi diameters. :( Therefore, the tire sizes listed in your post #1, appear to be pretty close. :):)

    Have fun :):)

Update . . always learning :) - - if your new 348 fronts are 7.5" wide (that's stock), you should use tire size 205/50/17. This will not only prevent the "stupid look" where the tread is wider than the rim :(:(, but will also prevent a steering wheel "weirdness" caused by overly wide front rubber. This size is closest to Mondi's stock front tire diameter and width. Hey, they knew what they were doing back there in Maranello ! :):)

    Cheers, Hank

No, that's for the fronts only. You would want 245/45/17 (or the diameter equivalent) for the rear. That's what I have on Rachel - and my rear Speedline Mistral wheels are also 9" wide. This is all designed to keep "calibrations" correct. Mind you, keeping diameters in check, tire width ratios (00/40/17, 00/45/17 - etc., will really affect the look (narrow to wider).

Do take your time to look over all your options as regards tire choices. Just chill - and enjoy it all. It's a fun process - - and one that need not be accomplished in just one day. I believe you know where I'm going with this.

    Cheers, Hank

Thanks Hank. Not in a rush but don't want to pass up wheels that are available currently ether. Your car is a T and mine a Q.V. I'm hoping someone with a QV will chime in here and tell me their tire size on 348 wheels. That would make me feel better about which way to go tire wise. Even if just to verify the sizes you listed. I had the same issue with my 928 and the fronts of my new tires, even at the same exact size were dramatically different than my previous tires. Kumho NLA vs Dunlop Drizzia. I had to pay a re stocking fee to change my fronts out.

Tazandjan, thanks for the info. Are both new and old ok for my Mondial? I.e. Does the revised offset impact my fit? Should I pick one over the other?

Hank, I know QV vs T should fit the same but my point was the same tire size actually varies from brand to brand and model to model....ask me how I know. After much research on the Porsche fourms, I went with Dunlops Drizzias to replace my Kumho Ecstas. Same exact sizes in the front and my tire meet my fender on hard right turns. Luckily no damage. I imagine if they fit your T I'm good because T's don't have the save fender lips as QV's. So I'm short, what make and model tires are you running? I'm inclined to just dupicate success. Thanks for your help!

I have had quite a few 348 wheels pushed to me. Seems I have a choice of either offsets. New or old. Not sure which way to go.
