John........I have seen both your PF and Graham's GTE up close and the colour is very similar. This might not show in photos. I cant remember the paint process on the PF but the GTE is very obviously a modern 2 pack application.

Paul, Marcel's records don't show the original paint colour, only "dark grey".
I spoke about it with him and he doesn't know the exact colour then or now.
It certainly was darker originally as the pre restoration photo shows.
When I can get to my Mac I'll post it.

Thanks Paul. Graham's current paint looks like "grigio fumo", I just wanted to see if it was in fact.

I think this may have been the intention but the modern paint application distorts this. Its not a colour I recognise.

I look forward to seeing the photo. I appreciate the huge investment you have put into the car but was wondering if funds would allow Andy to return it to its original colour ? Just an idea and will email you details.

thank you - seems it was a massive puzzle with the s/n!
was the car red before and later painted silver?

It was originally sold through Chinetti and spent most of the 1970's in California. It disappeared after that and was sold through Gullwing Motors in New York last Summer.

    Thanks Tom

If there are any more specific details regarding history please PM.

One friend of mine is interested in purchase.

I can see only some incorrect details in interior from pictures..

Hi John, the paint looks very different in differnt lights.
Under the bright lights and blue workshop floor it looks light, less so in the open air.
These pictures were taken in the Czech republic by Julius.
The picture from 1981 shows the original darker grey.
In the final picture, rainy day under trees, it apperas to have turned Green !
I like the current colour, PB thinks a darker shade would off set the interior more effectively.
Its all subjective in the end !

I understand the meaning of subjectivity but at the end of the day its not an original Ferrari colour regardless of the painter's good intentions.

I'll get Umberto Camellini to sack the painter, well I would if he would answer my letters.
Seriously Paul, point taken but unless 2014's financials look up she will stay like this for the next year or two at least !

And while we are here and unafraid of upsetting people lets go for best/worst GTE colour, and you to make it fair you can't vote for your own?

Then again no repaint ever is an original Ferrari color. FWIW my GTEs original paint on steering column shows two different versions of original grigio fumo. Where do I go from here?

Edit: For favorite colors grigio fumo is my favorite, but if I can't vote that, I'll go for ivory. The super rare 2-tones are the worst. GTE is not a design that wears 2-tone very well.
