Dear all, I am happy joining your club !! I just bought a 1979 308GTS with 28000km. I am based in Europe, in Greece. Best Regards Haris
Congratulations from across the pond. Will be visiting the area in May. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The best period visiting Greece is May, indeed. I am Greek based in Greece. It is my first try with italian cars, since now i had british and german cars only, a 1969 Triumph TR3a and a 1967 2+2 E-Type. In order to buy the 308 i exchanged a 1963 SL230 pagoda, (and i am very happy, for me pagoda was like driving an old taxi car, but cabrio with 2 doors ).
Welcome Haris! As a newbie, You are going to have to be initiated by us. Unless you post pics of your car.
Pictures? With pleasure!!! The beauty is having her 30000km service and will be with me by the end of next week. The problem is that the car was still for 4 years....
Congratulations. After owning a TR 3 you will find the 308 totally maintenance and trouble free by comparison.
Thanks all! By owning an E- type and a TR, i learned what means LUCAS THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS several times. In addition i realized why British people drink warm beer.... They have LUCAS refrigarators
Haris, your Lucas opinion is fine by me, and I love an ice cold Mythos as much as I do a dark English ale I think Italian electrics are probably (slightly) better than their British equivalent of the same era. My fuses & relays are in good shape, despite the advice on here to replace with a modern fuseboard.
So next time in Athens i ll wait for a pm and we will continue this conversation having a set of v8 or at minimum a set of straight 6 (Sir Lyons approach...) Beers
Hi Haris-Welcome to the forum of the most beautiful car in the world. So how about a pic then. Happy 308'ing.
After 1 month (!) for major service, the F-Car hit the road again since 2008... It drives perfect, no rattles and the v8 is an orchestra! As an italian Car with self respect, the light signal does not work, the heater fun does not work, both power Windows do not work, hazard alarm demands right turn light in order to flash.... but who really cares???
