If I cant vote for Blu Sera then I too would be swayed by Ivory. However in general I think a metallic colour looks best.........Apologies if I upset anyone but I hate them in Red....

Musician John Geils owns 2525GT and says that it was mustard yellow when he bought it. The two toned paint was his idea.

As we have very little documentation from Pininfarina, it is hard to tell if a two toned paint job was done by them or soon after delivery. Since only the roof and little else was painted, you may not find original paint in the usual hiding places (mostly inside).

I know that Burt Sugarman had his GTE (not yet unidentified) delivered directly from Hollywood Sports Cars to George Barris's Kustom shop for a bare metal Candy Apple Red paint job before he even saw it. Therefore, even very early photos may not show the Pininfarina color. By the way, would Candy Apple Red be considered the "original" color for this car as that was the way the first owner received it?

All that being said, this photo of 3993 GT was published in the August 1963 issue of Autosport, so if the two toned look was not original, it was certainly done very early on.

As you can see 3993 GT is a RHD car and sold originally to John Dalton in the UK. According to the Maranello Concesionaires records this car was delivered from the factory in one colour. This was in January 1963. The colour is stated only as Blue with the paint code 19391 which I cant identify to hand. According to the same records the only 'factory' two tone paint finish on a RHD GTE was 3139 GT in December 1961.

I remember seeing a business in England that specialized in headlight restoration. If you google Marchal they will come up. They usually have them.

The headlight in the photo is a CIBIE not a Carello.
