Jeffrey, I have to agree with your summation concerning the classics. There is no way anyone driving a 458 can say it isn't thrilling. Its awesome. Its the best handling and most exciting car I have ever driven or owned. Period. And I've owned a lot of high end sports cars. I recently added a 3 pedal 360 Spider for that raw muscle car feel and I thoroughly enjoy that as well. Its really all a matter of one's individual tastes. If one does not like the current offerings of Ferrari, its a free marketplace. Go out and get whatever turns you on. For me its both the old and new. Fortunately I've been around long enough to enjoy both. This ain't no dress rehearsal. Go for it.

Ask the 187 people currently selling their 458 coupes and 97 people currently selling there 458 spiders on Cars.com if they agree.

One word...BOXER...still undervalued except for the 365 version. A REAL seat-of the pants driving experience w/o a lot of the gizmos, etc! Still relatively expensive to service, but a blast on the street or on the track! Just get rid of the TRX tires and get some 17" wheels with modern rubber. I got to drive the 599 GTB HGTE Relay car...and it was very fast, etc., but it left me w/o much feeling for the road. Just too refined and too isolating a car for me!

I am "careful" where I park, but the few door dings that I've gotten were repaired by a local "dent doctor" at $50/panel...no big deal.

It doesn't matter how many are selling their 458 coupes or spiders. Its a matter of opinion and taste. They are not wrong nor is someone who loves the car. Its whatever floats your boat.

Like a a camry Xactly, yet you are an advocate for paddle shift which is symptomatic of the whole issue. I do concede that done right PDK might be fun, but on the street its still just an auto..

Once again, you state this as if it's something new. It's not.

This is typical for the 8 cylinder cars.

Ferrari has not changed. You have.

Nothing wrong with that. It's just the denial that irks me.

A 360 is def part of the new not old. All the new are basicaly used cars, a mass product. If a 360 3 pedal is cool, how about a 458 3 pedal.

Totally agree. So why give us grief if a lot of people here feel differently?

I'll say it again. I'm not telling you not to buy a 458. If that's what gets you going, go for it. But, if I gave mine up because it didn't float my boat, why am I wrong? Is this an open forum discussion or a Kangaroo court?

I never guessed this thread would run 50 odd pages running for months. CLEARLY it's something of interest to a lot of people. If it's that interesting, it must have struck a cord positively or negatively.

That's good because it's important enough to be discussed. Heaven knows you want get that on a lot of rah-rah fan club sites. Kudos to Rob and the mods for letting it run.

My point about the number of people selling their 458's is that it's pretty obvious that a lot of low mileage 458's didn't float the boat of a lot of other people too. Why else sell it with 1500 miles on the clock (as I did)?

There are more 458's for sale (a lot more) than F430's --- and they made 18 thousand of them over 5 years.

You don't think that means something?

LOL!! So, Sigmund Freud --- explain to me why I like and recommend other cars I've owned if I've changed.

If the new cars reflected the values of what the older cars I had, I wouldn't have much of an argument would I?

It's not me that has changed. It's Ferrari.

Can they change again? Sure. Will they? Only time will tell.

    I personally hope so.

    A) The OP can't look into the owners forum can he? He's clearly sold his ;)

    B) you stated you only got 18k miles on your 360 spider clutch? How come ? I have 18k on my CS with only 18% clutch life gone. Was there an issue?

    3) congrats on the new S4 I loved mine until the new s6 came in.

    D) Scuderia's are $150k now?

Why did you just buy a new Corvette?

No, don't answer that. We are going in circles.

    You are an enigma.

We will just have to agree to disagree.

Unless of course you disagree. :)

I don't know the OP but would guess that the Corvette cost around $200k less than the 458 Spyder - a pretty huge difference in price if QC isn't up to scratch.....

Not to answer for Bob, but he bought the C7 Convertible as a replacement for his DD Maserati Spider, that is all, he didn't say he was finished with Ferrari's. But let's him answer what he will get.

On another note, I agree with a lot of you guys. I am getting my 328 GTB back tomorrow and it is a lot of fun to drive compared to the modern cars, as it is much more involving. Saying that I still love cars like the 458.

Just an observation, for the first time I bought a non manual 911, a new 991 to use as my everyday car to replace my 997 6 speed. Although the 991 is far superior in many ways, I don't have the same sense of involvement as I did with the 997, especially because of the PDK even with the paddles. The 997 is was far more fun, but I did not like the notchiness of the 7 speed manual in the 991. But as an everyday drive I could not be more happy. If I was going to have fun on the weekends, I would definitely pick a manual transmission car.

Lol! I answered that 1000 times. The Vette replaces my Maserati spider. I've also said I'm looking for a classic Ferrari or Maserati car to replace the 458 many times.

I bought a new Lexus for my girlfriend this weekend. Are you going to claim I'm an enigma for that too?

I have never heard of "warranty issues" on a manual clutch.

Besides, if there were such a thing, it would certainly be cheaper than having to replace entire dual clutch transmissions en masse as seems to be the case with the Cali and 458. Again, no problem if your warranty is still valid but at $30k+ if youre out of warranty, I think many people would prefer a slow low tech manual.

Don't give them any ideas! I'm much taller, better looking, and stronger on the internet. :)

    Reality sucks!!!! :)

BTW Tony: Congrats on your 458 coupe order recently placed. It will look great next to that black Mac 12c!

Dear Mayor, I'm basically with you. The new models have lost the real Ferrari soul. Ferrari wants to cover with one model a too wide range of needs, and that for an exorbitant price and an average product quality. A bad development. But I am confident. Ferrari will find its way back. Maybe you have to skip one or two model generation, who cares.

But one allegation you have to accept: why are you buying first a 458 to find this out?

I didn't like this car after the first test drive. My question now: who buys a Ferrari without a critical test drive? Sorry, but did you have too much money? Did you simply possess the newest model? You invest so much money just to find out that you bought the wrong one?

Sorry Mayor, in this case you are the problem and not Ferrari. ;)

The La Ferrari is the embodiment of what is all wrong with Ferrari.

Its ugly as sin. And its A HYBRID.

For your 1.3 million, you get the F12's engine, with a Pruis grafted under a ghastly body with beady eyes and stick mirrors. Its leering snout looks like a 458 on steroids.

    Case closed.

    I love this thread.
