I talked myself out of getting one of these when I first got my car but I recently found a new one on ebay for $300 so I picked it up. I was skeptical at first when I was fitting it but I think I will keep it on. I really like the way it gave me a little more freedom about how close to follow or what kinds of trucks to pass when/where. It is a very liberating thing to not worry about rock chips and road debris...as much!

Of course I pulled out some of the stitching on assembly but will sew it back together in those places. It is a neat install only using stock screw locations and all the snap hardware is included. The part that goes on the lid itself is odd and is basically a sock that pulls on so it's fit changes since I use the trunk a lot.

I have caught it on my driveway too so I need to remove my skid plates and slip the straps under them so I don't kill it prematurely. Thought I would share since there has been a lot of negative stuff lately regarding clear bras.

I would be worried about that causing a lot of scratches in the clear coat Dust and grit will inevitably work their way under it and then even minor movement of the bra will cause scratches. On a black car they will be very apparent.

The hood part will have to go if that happens. The bumper part does not move at all. Good mention. I have racked up a lot of rock chips in my 6 months of ownership and 2K miles driven so I am looking to defer repaints!

Had one on my Porsche many years ago and took it off for the above reasons among others. Eventually I saw a line at the bra due to fading, grime etc. Why not a clear bra done by a reputable experienced shop? Looks way better and protects the paint.

I don't really understand the reasons against a clear bra. Do a bunch of rock chips look better than a bra? In my opinion no. I think a well done bra is really had to detect - certainly a lot harder to detect compared to a bunch of stone chips...

In addition to paint damage that it will cause we had many customers with overheating and poor A/C performance due to air flow reduction.

I used one years ago on one of my cars. Never again!!!

It will scratch the paint up real bad over time. They are so "last decade" now.

Interesting, I drove for about an hour and was keeping an eye on the gauges, I couldn't see any difference, used A/C too on freeway, worked great.

Did you use this brand before?
I will keep an eye out for scratches. I actually don't mind the look, I was thinking this was the biggest hurdle.
I realize that it is a period accessory!...Doesn't seem to stop the vette guys though :)

I hate to say this but I'm not a fan. Years ago I had one on my black Trans Am and it scratched the clear coat. Be careful! But I guess you don't have much of a choice if there are no shops near you that can install a clear bra. No downside to them btw...my entire front clip is covered.

About once a month we buy a motorcycle that has a bra on the back of the tank (to protect against belt buckle scratches). The first thing we do is take it off and throw it straight in the garbage to keep it from ruining anyone else's paint.

Then we buff it out for about an hour. Sometimes the hazing goes away, and sometimes it doesn't.

    I'd remove it.

I never understood these protections... IMHO it's a burka for a Ferrari!

If I get small scratches / chips because of rocks and other stuffs when I drive my cars, then: I swear, most of the time I forget it one day after, and if the damage is important then I make an appointment with my body shop.

I have a car bra for both my cars....they go on before a long trip and come off as soon as I get there. Removing swirls in paint is much better than dealing with rock chips....
Make sure before you put it in, like a car cover, the area is clean and wax'd/polished

Hate to say it but these bras are more like so three decades ago. Very '80s.

Personally, I'd much rather see a car full of stone chips than one with a clear bra. I'd rather see all the paint completely blasted off the front of a car than to see one with equipped with one of this "bondage" bras. MAN!........ are they UGLY! But that's just me. I don't like plastic covers on my living room lamp shades either. Your taste may vary.

You can get clear bra kits now fully cut for any car. try this 3M ScotchGard Clear Bra and Paint Protection for your car
Any decent car wrap or vinyl logo shop should have no trouble installing these kits. Or even try yourself...

I have a clear bra and disagree with Moz...done right I would much rather have a good looking front end over chips and scuffs.

I had one on my 1980 RX7. Used it for a couple of months, left a mark on my hood. Never used it again. They are very hard on the paint, and IMHO f'ugly.

It is ugly and I don't advocate for leaving it on....but I'd rather use it occassionally for the 12+ hour drives, especially in winter when rocks, salt, and everything else gets kicked up....

Many people use blue painters tape now....I think that looks just as bad. I usually use my front bra, and the painters tape on the side mirrors...

Today driving in the dark to work I hit a can that was bouncing along the freeway...square in the front bumper! I was too sleepy to swerve out of the way, or I was lost in the music (Go-Gos, Beauty and the Beat!). Thank God it deflected down and out the back. I started to yell and then I remembered that I had the bra on. :)

I like the way it looks (But I am so from the 70's) and its just something to be careful of, I had one on my Dino (back in the 70's) and it never harmed the paint because I was careful.

I think I will get one for my 360

I used one on my 911 and when I sold it the front bumper was as new, not one stone chip. Yes, with it on it look horrible but when I put the car in car shows, it displayed nice. Ironically, the guy I sold it to put a clear bra on the very next week...

Why not put a clear bra on before you mount this? That way it won't get the rub marks and you can buy the Clear Bra material and do it yourself

You could probably sell it on eBay for $300 !

    I like your style LR!
    Already on order!

I plan on doing the hood part only. I ordered some Xpel 12" wide x 3 feet long material to put under the cover.
