Does anyone know which of these side badges is correct for my 365 ?

The car has odd badges and the one on the left in the photo has a lug broken off.

Eurospares have the one on the left available for £14.34 each which isn't too bad but they state for 400/400i, not 365 and being mental I'd prefer to have the correct ones.

Quick response (tonight UK time) would be very welcome.

    Thanks

FWIW (not much), my 1980 400i has the one on the left, so I suspect that the 365 probably had the one on the right and was replaced with the one on the left at some stage.

Better get it right or you'll never get Classiche certification or win Pebble Beach.

Having done some digging I suspect you're right - give that man a banana !!

I have incorrect, modern air in the tyres so already know I won't get Classiche certification or win Pebble Beach. Thanks for reminding me.

Now I need a drink, where's the bloody scotch.......

    By the way Russ.
If you still want a 365 fan and blade I have found one, the guy wants £250 for the fan blade and good motor, let me know if you are interested and i will put you in touch?

I have just looked in the original V12 restorer's guide and that has photos of 2 car in it, one just has the designed by badges on both sides and the other has the same badge but with the badge photoed above, on it as well, on both sides.

The top badge on this site is the correct badge for a Daytona with the "designed by" higher than the Pini. part, I am not sure if it is the same on the 365 but would assume so?

I have the German Auto Zeitung magazine to hand, dated 14 July 1973. It has a 365GT4 test, and a close up of the Pininfarina badge. I don't have access to a scanner unfortunately, but it looks like your badge to the left, with red in the crown but black rather than silver surrounding the "F" (with the same red in the corners though). The Pininfarina script underneath is just that, with no "designed by".

Incidentally the car has a mere 15 km on the clock!

My car has plain "Pininfarina" script badges without the Designed By quote - these are fine and I'm happy with them.

I haven't seen badges with black instead of silver before so that adds further confusion.

The badge on the right with the scroll is the original but is no longer available or rebuilt.
I ordered mine in europsares and I borrowed red nail polish of my wife to paint the crown above

Thanks for all your responses, I managed to buy the used pair advertised on ebay.

I spoke to the seller and he informed me that the odd discolouration which appears in the photo is actually reflection or shadow and they're pretty much perfect.

Hopefully will get them next few days and we'll see.

A friend of mine is a model maker - chances are wherever you are in the world you've seen his work from ice cream ads to plasticine gardens to 5ft wide haribo Union Jacks to album covers.

I gave him my recently purchased Pininfarina badges and he recoloured the crowns with acrylic resin and polished up the badges which now look great.

He said it was time consuming but now has the correct formula for the red if anyone else wants theirs done.

Not sure what he would charge, if you'd spent the last 40 years being his best mate probably nothing.

That'll teach you for not planning ahead now won't it !!!

I hope the paint was the correct one. It would be unforgivable to deface your car with anything other than factory-correct finishes. Those concours judges are getting very picky I hear.
