is there such a thing as a surround sound system that has all of its speakers (5.1 or 7.1 system) that connect wireless (not just the rears)? Also has an integrated DVD player, even perhaps recordable?

I think that recordable DVDs are on their way out; made obsolescent by DVR and the ability to rent and buy TV shows and movies via "cloud". Also, as you probably know, you definitely want to go Blu-ray rather than DVD.

I have heard of a couple of integrated Blu-ray players / receivers (one from Denon that I recall), but the reviews were less than stellar. I think you'd be best going with separate components.

ditto the above; Onkyo high-end HTiB get good reviews.
Hard to beat a PS3 for a stellar bluray player

I love my Onkyo + Energy Speakers + PS3 (PS4 soon). I'd recommend against wireless speakers. Everything i've heard is that the audio quality will never be as good as wired.
