See ya! Don't let the door hit you on the way out..... ;)

    Seriously, I'm very optimistic it may be a great season for quite a few reasons;

    - They'll have about the same power, but much more torque. Driver skill should be more evident.
    - Hopefully the days of he Cans dominating are over. Seems Newey isn't happy at all.
    - The energy store & recovery systems is some serious high tech stuff. I think we'll see more than a few kablamo's over the year.

Hopefully, Pirelli will get their act together this time too.

We'll see soon enough I guess.
    Cheers,
    Ian

Oh you know it. That being said, I believe the only reason people are leaving Red Bull (which has been happening lately) is because this is the very best time for them to make a career change as it is in now way a sure thing Red Bull are going to be all-conquering again moving forward. Leaving Red Bull now is just what I would do, better to leave while on top and command a tall salary then try and leave next year if for instance Red Bull finished 3rd in the WCC etc.

    nail meets head. spot on

V6 turbos were a golden age of F1. People need to calm down. This is a new dawn for F1

I suspect their act has always been together and them having poor instruction from F1 is probably the issue.

    Fair comment.

I agree. My comment was definitely a little unfair to them - They only supplied what was asked for after all.

    Cheers,

Hmmm.... That's some serious **** way up high there..... We know about the turbo and it's ancillaries (particularly the MGU's) but I figured it would mostly be buried in the vee.

It looks too well made to be BS, cooling I guess but it sure does look odd.

    Cheers,
    Ian

I doubt they were asked to make tyres that blow.

Although I agree in that it´s not so easy to get the job done without testing.

    Indeed.

However, didn't they claim that nonsense was (primarily at least) down to them running them backwards, with too much camber and too little wind in 'em?

    Cheers,
    Ian

They've been testing in Bahrain for the past few days, and it seems all may still not be quite right.... Lifted from Pitpass (I'm out of Autosport views :( )

    :)

SO Kaboom again. I saw that earlier. Also Mercedes has possibly left the test as well.

A variation strictly for dyno testing imo. I am more curious about the BPV mounted on the VC.

Crazy idea, but could that be the turbo and MGU-H in there?

The new Ferrari V6 was showed in a extreme secret presentation, no cameras,no tech journalist were allowed.

Rumors say the reason is that the engine is made out of exotic and ultralight materials, and chosen ones were only able to see 3D render!

Anyone who asked questions was kicked out.

    Ferrari = mafia team? haha

"The turbo engine Ferrari F1 2014 is called 059/3 and will consume up to 135 liters"

The journalists who have heard the engine say it's fantastic. They described as a 'real motor racing sound' (translated from Italian)

Word is that Ferrari were supposed to show the engine at Shell today, but all news is silent....... nothing public has happened.

I'd need to check, but IIRC that's simply not allowed. I don't recall right now the 'small print', but I don't think they're allowed to use anything, anywhere, with a specific mass below 'X'/unit size and/or 'extraordinary' heat conduction capabilities.

Maybe Florian has read the regs? ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

    +1 blowing smoke IMO

This is coming from the same company who said their Ferrari 360 (when new) was made out of 'ultra exotic' aluminum lol. All the while they had a 50s vintage racecar sitting right outside the training room also made from.....aluminum.

Do you have any idea about the engine's weight?

2014 technical regs say it must be no less than 145kg. (~320lbs in old money). This is the total for what they now call the 'power unit', and exactly what is, & what is not a part thereof is pretty well defined in appendix 2.......

    Cheers,
    Ian
