Here is a little tridute render: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jmfLJY6Zcys/UqVOZ3P-BWI/AAAAAAAAAjI/eLgnsaytHH8/s1600/pwsupras.jpg
Universal is making donations to Paul Walker's charity from the DVD / Blu-Ray sales of FF6. So I bought a copy. Cheers. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I read a very interesting comparison between the Ford GT and the Porsche Carrera GT, and somewhere in his long and interesting description it says: ''and the only thing that separates the Carrera GT from a full-on race car is the lack of a fuel cell and a fire suppression system.'' Well, they are milking it... every grocery store I have been in recently has a big FF6 display. The crash will sell DVD's/BR's.
That is hands down the best non-magazine review I've ever read. Thank you for sharing. As an NSX fan I loved the way it ended.
An ominous detail from the investigation: Source: 'Speed and speed alone' behind deadly Paul Walker crash, source tells AP - TODAY.com If this holds true, it is sure to be a big influence in the loss of control. Fresh tires on a car like this are sort of a no-brainer, regardless of how much tread depth might be left on the originals. >8^\ ER
Gotta be pretty s***** to own a race car/tuning shop and not have your newly purchased CGT inspected and not realize you have mismatching and outdated tires. If the above is true.
A very nice tribute from speedhunters. A group of people (Japanese and expats) meeting at Daikoku futo and going for a drive. Incredible variety of cars! The backstory explains a lot for people that ''dont get it''. Should You Celebrate Paul Walker? We Get Personal in Japan | Speedhunters
TMZ has a LEO source familiar with the investigation that tells them no determinations have yet been made in the investigation.
No disrespect and not my OP but this is one of the comments on that article out of Japan. Read below. A Dose of Reality2 hours ago I _like_ the Fast and Furious films. But Paul Walker is the Jar Jar Binks of the series. The Spilner character is the protagonist and is supposed to elicit sympathy and care.Walker was such a poor actor that nearly every scene he was in is unbearable to watch. The rest of the cast raised a bad script, Walker could not rise to carry his own weight. The F&F films arrived _after_ the import scene was on its downward slide. The import drag racing organization mentioned in the first film closed its doors the week after the film was released. The film brought unknowledgeable fad-followers who knew nothing about cars into the scene, and they dragged it down even faster. The series was not a net gain for the import scene, and as the series progressed, it became less and less about import cars. Walker was not a professional racer and is not listed in the results of any organized racing event. He participated in the driving school / lapping sessions of one Redline event, but did not qualify to participate in the timed session.Rodas was not a professional racer, he was an accountant who weaseled his way into a sweet deal setting up a tax dodge for Walker to write off his cars, and then spending Walker’s money driving the shop car at events.Rodas participated as a rookie in the Pirelli series and finished at the bottom.Had Rodas survived, his racing license would be revoked. Walker’s charity activities accepted money from other people that was then turned over to organizations and written off against Walker’s own taxes. That’s how all celebrity charities work.Don’t confuse that with kindness or philanthropy. Rodas and Walker went out on a public street and managed to kill themselves driving 90+ MPH in a 45 MPH zone. From the looks of the debris field and damage, most likely 150+ MPH.They handed the road-safety-nanny-groups the most valuable argument against any and all automotive performance related activities. It will take decades before the opponents of every single motorsport and automotive related activity stop parroting the argument that “It killed Paul Walker”. Paul Walker had a net negative effect on the world.
That's hardly an accurate statement either. Some determinations have certainly been made by now. I will give them leeway that a final determination has yet to be made and I am glad the investigators are taking their time with it. Case in point, if a couple of those tires were not melted beyond recognition from the ensuing fire it really doesn't take long to check the date code and see when it was manufactured. Pretty basic stuff really - any tire jockey can figure it out in a matter of seconds: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=11 >8^) ER
+1 The person who posted it on the article quite simply doesn't get it. I posted the speedhunters article as I dug everything about it; The message, the cars and the photos. Just because an idiot commented on it doesn't take anything away from it IMO. I don't think anyone was about to give Paul an Oscar for his acting, but I don't think it was ever about that. He was always nuts about cars (like us) and I personally like a lot of the movies he appeared in. Not necessarily good ones but they where entertaining. He did a LOT of good in the world with his charities, and instead of getting all the news reporters in the world to film this to show how good of a person he was, it took a few days for this to come out AFTER his death. Incredibly down to earth and avoiding as much publicity as he could. One of the videos I saw a few years ago really cemented for me that he is just a regular car guy like us: He went to Japan and visited tuners such as Mine's. Not the thing I'd see Kim Kardashian doing...Paul Newman and Steve Mcqueen, yes.
It's tragic when somebody dies so young. However, as ******baggy and disrespectful as that post was... Paragraph 1: personal opinion, but I have to say I sort of agree with him. 2: true, pretty much bang on. 3: debatable and sort of irrelevant. 4: unfounded speculation IMHO 5: sadly mostly true 6: dickhead opinion, sounds like jealously. Lots of postmortem stories coming out that he was a well liked and generous person.
Paul also readily admits on that video to driving 185MPH on the California freeway. That a little, uh, excessive. And quite reckless. Keep that up over many years with the money he had and access to ridiculously awesome cars, it's not a real shocker than he eventually got into a fatal crash. It's terribly sad result, but really it's the ultimate lesson in the "take it to the track" message.
Sadly, I have to agree with this part. I base that on an event I was trying to plan got nuked and that was almost exactly what they said. :-(
What I'm wondering about is why if they are indeed that old, why tires that old were still on it; especially if everyone around it 'should' have the understanding of importance of newer vs older or OEM rubber? And there's no question the means were there for a new tire set.
I'm sorry for the little interrupt but i saw on Vin Diesel's FB page that the new movie will come out in April 10th 2015. (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152194488743313&set=a.101465923312.101581.89562268312&type=1&theater) I'm not so excited because i know that nothing will be the same in this saga without Paul Walker.... Just mentioned and shared my thoughts. ....
