Have heard the name but did not know it was one of the first carbon fiber composite guitars on the market. It is very cool there are no fret wires, must be interesting to play atonal on guitar similar to violin. I personally like my Parker Fly which is composite as well with frets and acoustic pickup in bridge sounds sick.

If anything that will be in a museum so buy it, I have enough guitars and no more right now!

I don't think you can get atonal with it (apart from bending, etc.), look at the close-up shot of the neck - it's got angled steps instead of frets.

Interesting idea... I've never heard of this brand/model before.

Mick Jones of the Clash and BAD played one of these for a long time. Check out and BAD videos from the 80's.
    Good price on that guitar

Back in the day, both the bass player & guitar player in Fchatter robertgarven's band each had one of these... they'd use them together on maybe one or two songs.

I played the one that Jerry (the guitar player) owned a couple of times - did not really like it at all. They're fairly heavy, and the tone is rather flat-ish. Also, ISTR that the fretboard had virtually no radius whatsoever.

FWIW, one of the unique features of these guitars is that the pickup can be switched out... if you notice that slot that's sort of scooped out of the body right next to the pickup, it just slides out via that little trough. There are two little connector poles that you can see in the pictures, if you look right in between the pickup & the edge of the pickguard. IIRC, when bought new, they came with two different pickups, a single coil & a humbucker.

EDIT: Lookie! Off to the side of that page, I noticed another one for sale... this one comes with both pickups.

I wonder if 4 grand is a realistic price for these... I've never heard 'good' things about them, but it would be an interesting guitar to have in the collection.

A rare and cool - from some perspectives - guitar, but a lot of guitarists couldn't get along with them, hence, they went away. Don't buy it unless you've played one and like it.

CF is a great material for guitars. After owning lots of expensive classical guitars, I realized they actually owned me. I was always worrying about humidity and temperature - well, to hell with that - so I got these. I have four now in various action heights and pickup configurations.

    Cheers,

    George

Those are Blackbird Rider Nylon guitars. They also make steel string guitars and even a uke. They look the same, but the one on the left has a classical guitar action and the one on the right has a flamenco guitar action. Both have RMC Polydrive pickups, which can run synthesizers. Once I got the first one about six years ago, I was hooked.

I have a Dan Armstrong. They are OK not the best guitars. Not work $3,500 I would buy another for $1,500.

Had not heard of those, but very cool indeed.

Speaking of CF guitars, I had an early Composite Acoustics guitar. This is the RGT (road gear - tough). Very stable neck and it was ALWAYS in tune. A little brighter than most, and the pickup was just ok and not very versitile, but probably the best acoustic I've ever played. A few years later, Peavy bought them and continue to sell the CA guitars. This one was sold, and I still look for the same model to acquire once again.
