Out of interest, why the dislike? Usually when I hear people speaking about apple products negatively, it's never objectively. Usually, something along the lines how they hate the brain washed apple fanatics, smug customers, possibly the overhype ect ect. Perhaps if they were a smaller less known company, they would be the greatest thing since slice bread to many detractors?

Apple purchased the rights to commercialize it. It was dying on the vine at Xerox.

Apple didn't invent the smartphone either. They did make it really smart.

Apple had the vision that others lacked to put all the pieces together.

They didn't just incrementally improve what existed. They reinvented how to do it by putting the pieces together.

They also helped free us from MS.

To suggest that Apple's success is/ was from marketing is laughable.

Samsung (Samesung?) spends far, far more money marketing their smartphones and did so when Apple was outselling them (in smartphones).

    But I digress...

They are masters of planned obsolescence and compatibility problems. I had a Mac and hated it. Had to run Parallels for some CAD software. What a disaster that was. OS got left in the dust and then the Hard drive died. The only computer I have had this happen to since 1981! Got sick of staring at that freaking rainbow beach ball all the time. Went and had a Maingear built and love it. No Mac has this kind of power, plus it's a breeze to upgrade. We always laugh at work when some sucker has to charge their iphone and no one has the right cord. However, that said, if a communist country ever wanted the ideal tech products for their people I would recommend Apple without any hesitation.

To me apple makes things fun. I never had FUN on my phone until I got an iPhone. I was not an early convert either. I bought a 4 as my first, then skipped the 4s to go to the 5. As far as Mac goes I use both Mac and Windows and enjoy them. I have had my MacBook Pro for 4 going on 5 years and it has been great. I've run boot camp CAD software etc with no real issues. One time they told be a needed a new logic board (mother board) for it. They had it replaced in three days and charged me 300$. Not bad at all. Great matchine and great service.

Good thing we don't have any flashy cars that people love for their aesthetics with compatibility problems that are finicky, have obsolete nav technology, or had to be recharged significantly more than any other car...oh, wait...all Apple would haver to do is install a manual shifter (or paddles in carbon fiber) and they could draw in an entirely new customer base.

I was wondering if you have Venetian plastered walls in the interior of your home Jeffery. I would almost guarantee you have a Marble entry way...Alex

    Apple lifted that from Xerox.

Apple has the most marketing power. Period.

Jobs was a hustler of the highest order. Wozniak and others were the guys actually doing the technology.

I agree, I recently drank all the Apple koolaid with the purchase of a Macbook Pro.

Of course we would love it, and have fun driving it, but I would have no personal satisfaction since modern robot cars do all the work for you.

I believe Commodore was first out with the PET, which was also the first all-in-one computer, IIRC.
Lisa and Macintosh were one of the very first GUI systems, but Lisa was extremely expensive and Macintosh was slow, had a ****ty OS and not very expendable(also not Lisa compatible) - both were crap compared to, for example, Amiga 1000. Apple survived the 80s mostly on Apple II revenue.

Yes. Why do you ask? I didn't build the home, but I assume most formal homes have stone entry ways. No Venetian plaster... Yet. I am redoing the house. We wallpapered the entry foyer.

Apple did not lift the technology from Xerox. Apple made a deal with them and gave them stock for the right to commercialize the technology. A deal is a deal.

Apple's innovation was seeing what could be done with technology today and in the future. The genius was seeing how to put it all together in a product at a price point that could be successfully marketed.

Most companies, e.g., Microsoft, just incrementally improve what already exists. Of course there is nothing wrong with that. Apple is special because their approach enables our society to advance so much faster.

    Haters gonna hate.

The builder told me it cost about 3 million to build and it would cost more today. And that doesn't include the land.

Therefore, it's on the market for less than it would cost to reproduce.

Curious as to why you would wallpaper, was this at the suggestion of an "Interior Designer"?..Was a vertical pattern used to accentuate the height of the foyer?...Alex

Have you seen the home? Do you know me? We make our own decisions sometimes based on the advice of experts and sometimes not. Sometimes we make good decisions, sometimes not.

It sounds like you don't like what we've done.

    Have a nice holiday.

Hats off. Flipping a house in less than a year would be an impressive feat in this market.

No judgements being made Jeffery. I renovate homes, so I'm interested in various design styles/choices. Wallpaper is a very "personal" decision, can be costly dependent upon the fabric chosen & pattern matching can result in a high amount of waste. Wallpapering in a foyer can require scaffolding & masking off affected areas, etc, etc. Would like to see pictures of the kitchen if you are agreeable. Thanks!...Alex
