I have been rather quiet about the Speciale as the initial opinion was negative and I didn't want to banter with anyone about how I think its as good looking and if not better looking than my 458. Everyone is entitled to an opinion!!!

I saw the blue car in the flesh and not that I needed any more validation that it was going to be what I thought it would be, it turned out to be even more. Several have mentioned how it all makes sense when you see it in life and I have to agree. My wife actually said she liked it a lot. she also said it was pretty so I'm not sure if her opinion counts.

Im waiting patiently for my dealer to let me know when they get their allocation. I am an early slot and if they called today I'm pretty much ready to go except for the stripe color and set material.

Basically my 458 (pics below) in a Speciale:

Rosso corsa with stripes to match the wheels that go all the way to the front or the NART combo.

Red alcantara upper dash and black lower w/contrast stitching. I reversed it as I think there are too many breaks on lower to do in red.

Still deciding on the red 3D fabric or alcantara for centers of seat. Black alcantara on outer with red cavallino.

    White tach

The only additional carbon fiber will be the engine bay and possibly the mirrors.

Cruise control- yes cruise, I set it to 70 on the freeway to avoid a ticket. I don't have it on 458 and wish I did.

radio delete or no radio as I never listen to it in any of my F cars.

and if possible through the custom side, having the front air inlets that are white done in the wheel color. Does anybody know if this can be done?

This is baseline and I'm sure ill go back and forth a few times!

To me this is half the fun of getting a new car.... I love the process!!

    Cheers,

    Rb

If you take the upper dashboard in red remember it will reflect in the windscreen...
    Just my 2 cents...

Been mulling this over for a while. Only had the 458 just over a year. Does one wait for the 458 replacement or step up to the Speciale and convince yourself its a longer term proposition?

No right answer there. I'm in the same boat, although I tend to trade out often so I can lose more money. I am on the list for the speciale, but I got my own italia 3 months ago. I'm sure the replacement will be very desirable, and maybe more so than the speciale.

Are carbon mirrors now an option? Last time I fooled with the dealer configurator it wasn't.

Tough call. I only moved because I was ready after 3 years in the Italia and could get an earlyish build Speciale. For those with newer Italias who need to wait too long for the Speciale, it may be better to wait for the 458 replacement.

The dealer configurator does not have it (I was actually at our dealer today doing some paperwork and we looked over my specs).

However, we got to spec our car in Italy with the Atelier, there are a lot of things you can do that never make it on the configurator (US or Europe), they are Extra Campionario or by special request. CF mirrors are available, US pricing tentative, but obviously pricey.

Your .02 saved me from making a BIG mistake. I laid red fabric on the dash today and drove around to test. As soon as I hit direct sunlight the windshield lit up red!!

    THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its never an easy answer. I was on the list for the Scud and backed out last minute as I knew the 430 replacement was going to be a entirely new car. With that said, I would rather have a 360 Challenge Stradale than my old 430. Thats my mindset this time. The 458 replacement will be an evolution of the 458 and not a ground up. Im guessing ill wait for the 458's replacement, replacement as my next move.

They are available now for $7K so I am assuming I can special order.

And be careful of highly contrasting stitching on the surface of the dash. Depending on the car and the lighting, it can be a factor. I drove an FF with white stitching on a black surface and it got me crazy.

Well some people order 30k paint jobs. Why not 7K mirrors?

Carbon mirrors, unless on a black or dark grey car, narrow the car visually. I wouldn't have them for free on a red car, for example.

Interesting thought. I wouldn't opt for them at 7k, but I wouldn't care if they were included as was the scud. Mine was scuderia red, but I didn't think about the effect of the side mirrors

7k just for mirrors... Other people have to buy a whole car for that amount ;-)

Also I just picked up my plates....There is someone else in California who was quick to get license plates. 458S wast taken so I went with

They are stock mirrors and not even real pre-preg carbon either. overlay only ie cosmetic carbon, as with a handful of the interior carbon bits such as the air vents. disappointing but true.

But as many point out, most willing to pay the specialé price, won't care or just don't know the difference.
