Keith, rest assured there is a pretty well-defined market for the F40, especially within the USA.

I sell 6-8 of them a year (8 in 2013 Placed | Joe Sackey Classics) and I keep a record of all the numbers. Its constantly changing, so perhaps that's why its difficult to put a finger on what values really are.

To you perhaps but the numbers, circumstances and so on are private, and to me a market requires a fairly large number of public transactions. Not saying that your info shouid not be private, as you and the buyer/seller deserve privacy, just saying the average "joe" (as in not Sackey) can't really tell market prices.

    Understood.

I think part of the issue is the ever-increasing values, so its hard to pin down a range.

Please excuse me if this has already been talked about but I am wondering if the 'Fast 'n Loud' team would have been better off in the long run by having the Ferrari Classiche Department rebuild the car? Clearly Richards partner in the project has the funds for this.

    Just thinking out loud.

It was a low miles example, badly wrecked here in Houston.

Pics are on here somewhere when the accident occurred.

Just FYI, last night on the show Dennis said the F40 will be up Saturday at 6:30pm.

F40 is so over the top neurotic to complain about anything that isn't 100% right, my brain just can't imagine how many warning bells will be going off. Hope it comes with earplugs!

Yowza, wasn't the expected price quite a bit higher?

I certainly would not have expected a higher price. From this quote on GTspirit it seems there was no published estimate.

"As you would imagine, this true one off comes with a reserve price which has yet to be revealed. However, expect it to be well above $1 million."

Also the final price paid with commission was $742,500 and the sellers probably did not get all of that $675K final bid either.

EDIT: Famous last words on Twitter below.

I think most FerrariChat users had this car right on "the money".

Just to let all of you know. I am the one who took this F40 over to the shop where it was wrecked. Last night at dinner I was coincidentally with the passenger who was riding in the car when the wreck occurred. "Ran through a fence" are you kidding me!!! I contacted the original owner who is skiing in Wyoming and told him about the auction and he watched it on TV and we talked afterwards. He is sad that he no longer owns the car but he looks back at the entire story, the accident, Fast and loud, the new famous owner etc. and he is amazed at the celebrity that his "baby" became.

with absolutely no offense to Fast and Loud, I think this is a good example of the floor for the f40 market...675K seems like a fair price for what it is....reggie has an ultra low mile f40 if im not mistaken...so maybe he will use the black one as hid DD...cant say that's a bad idea!

Why would the sellers not get all of the final bid?

Reggie sold it a few years back. He may have replaced it with another one by now, though. If you want one to drive all over, why not. The F40 makes for a great car to drive anywhere, including road trips. Those goofy LED lights can be changed out, too.
