Very cool pics regardless.
There's been a couple of people that told me that's my car. Now I have close up pictures. =) Hopefully Joe and his vast resources can pinpoint the connection.
In 1984, nobody was taking note of chassis numbers, so its too hard to say. However, the "bar" bumper was not exactly unique, and was applied to most 1984 cars which the USA compliance agent brought into DOT/EPA conformance. Having said all that, its entirely possible its your car in Rocky IV. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The exhaust extrusion angle, and its finish with silver Ansa tape separating the blackout from the chrome tips might offer a relevant clue... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mine had residue of the tape that separates the chrome to black, and all you could see is the outline of the original decals. I put new tape (red) & decals that I got from Ansa back in April. They pretty much got toasted on the very first joy ride and now have some nice patina. The good thing about that bumper (if there's anything good to be said) it hides your licence plate really well. lol The white CT on the right now belongs to Luigi.
The rear side reflector looks different for some reason. I have seen many of those bumpers also but somebody has to know who supplied the cars for the movie. Somebody was able to figure out which Jalpa was used so maybe the same source knows about the countach.
Hi, Just need to point out that I did send you these photos, but they came from the web and aren't mine (in case the real photographer wants to take credit)! RW
@Joe was there one distinctive importer that used that bumper? I looked at mine vs Luigi's looks like the exact bar. Seems like Luigi's car Alberto's car & my car and shared the same importer. I've seen a couple other 84's and they were totally different. For example. ELA12714 ELA12717 ELA12723 & ELA12745 share the same exact bumper which were different than mine. Yeah I saw the Jalpa up for sale on eBay a couple years back. Hopefully someone can recall the Countach they used for Rocky IV. I can care less if it's my car but it would be cool to know the VIN of the car used. I'm surprised that no one has bought that CT up before. The black Countach above is ELA12687 and also shares the same bumper.
It would be nice if it were found and belonged to someone active here. Problem is something reputable to point in the right direction. Even though the Jalpa got the star role it would still be a fun story/ part of the cars history. I would be careful about any claims without a little "something" to support it though. You know what that can lead to around here = trouble LoL
Yeah that's why I'm not jumping for joy. I don't want this turning into the Cheetah thread lol I'm just pointing out something very interesting that I have not seen on another 84' Red Countach that's all. I probably would have never said anything if that picture was not emailed to me by a friend. I should have Sly sign that bumper so I can have something cool to hang up on my kid's wall. Could it be? I should lay claim to it (for now)just because this thread needs a little excitement. LMAO
Back & front marker lights were changed by my friend to match (had small ones on the front), all soon to be changed back to small ones on the front & rear deleted by me. =)
another pic of the Rocky IV Countach: IMCDb.org: 1982 Lamborghini Countach LP 500 S in "Rocky IV, 1985" and Stallone again: http://checkit-sledujto.blogspot.de/2010/11/sylvester-stallone-vintage-adidas.html
Christmas holidays means i have some time to waste, so what's better than talking about a Countach? Everyone of course says his Countach model is the best of seven models (and half) made without considering the special built Wolf or others like that. I own a 5000 S so for me the best is that, of course. But why my Countach model is better than yours? Very easy to prove... It's an S so it comes with the big wheels and the enlarged body, front spoiler and rear wing, things that add power to the savage Countach line. So bye bye LP400 and bye bye milky 25th. It has a very powerful engine with an incredible low end thrust and drivability but very good top end power too: until 4000 rpm it looks to have twice the power of the 4 liter engines and it's smoother than the 5.2 engine. This engine has the best drivability of every Countach engine, it's powerful and when you open the engine lid it has the best look of all, with the single distributor and the very good looking sidedrafted Weber carbs. So bye bye LP400S3 and Quattrovalvole. It has the "tall" roof of S3 cars, so you can fit in even if you are tall and you won't destroy the bottom part of car at the first speed bump you meet: so bye bye LP400S1 and LP400S2 It has the very good looking interior of first Quattrovalvole, with a very good finish. It still has the look of the first Countach model with that beautiful deck lid and not the bad looking "dome" of L507 4V engines. So bye bye Quattrovalvole and 25 th. Of course this is just for joke, i would like to own every single Countach model as they are all fantastic cars, every single model has its strengths and weaknesses. ciao
Upcoming movie Kung Fury features a Countach... anyone know the S/N? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72RqpItxd8M]KUNG FURY Official Trailer [HD] - YouTube[/ame]
Sorry Albert, but I love the power of the QV engine (a 2v side draft must feel like a QV running on 10 cylinders) The engine cover on the QV FI looks like a body builders shoulders bulging out from under the hood. Unlike the boring flat hood of the rest of the breed. QV's are really the best I am also having some fun with your post. Have a happy Holiday season !!!
I much rather have an S than a QV any day. That deck lid on the QV looks horrible, and is furthest away from the original. Also seriously? Fuelie over a carb car?
neither Kung Fury wants a QV: in the trailer i did not see the "Horror Dome"! I travelled a bit on a QV downdrafted and i noticed that until 3000 RPM the 5000S has more bulk and power, even if above 3000 RPM the QV is faster. Talking seriously, the 5000S model has the best balance of power, look, sound and drivability: the QV is just faster at high rpm, but i think a 5000S is very fast (no game with the four liters) and even too fast for what i have to do with that car. I'm sorry: you bought the wrong model... ciao (P.S: No way you can demonstrate that your old wreckage is better than my old scrap... )
i met a guy that owns all the variants (beside 25th, he does not like them) he has - LP400 - LP400S (1980) - 5000S - QV (carbed) he likes the 4 liter cars more than the rest and the LP400 is his favourite i can tell you all cars have some pros and cons if i would get an other i would go for S2...if i could not find one either 5000S or DD would do (given LP400 - S1 are too expensive for me today)
Emilio, I was just joking and every single model has its plus so there is not one better and one worse, 25 th apart that i do not like as looking but of course it's an excellent car and a Countach of course. I like low body cars very much but i consider them just a "to see" cars, as i often touch something with the lower part of my car (that is not lowered at all) so it would be a nightmare if i had a low body, at least for the bad roads there are here around. I hate the lack of height room of low body cars, even if they look great. If i were a Countach Collector, i would buy a low body (s1 or s2) just to show it and a 5000 S to drive at car meetings: i'm always very happy about that engine output, sound and performances. My personal taste does not like the LP400, but this not a problem as i cannot afford it... I do not know anything about last times prices evolution: what are S1 prices today? why do you say it's too much expensive? ciao
Your probably dont like the look of the FI lid because you only got to see it from the rear as it was blowing away your 2 valve car I love that fuelie lid. Not only does it have that muscular look, but when I am driving the car, I can look in the rear view mirror and see the intake plenuums. Very cool
FI Cars??? what are they? a genetic mutation caused by depleted uranium? QV had six big double barrel Weber IDF44 carbs... Here there aren't FI Countach (we burned them all as blasphemous) and IF THERE WAS ONE am sure it will be slower than my carbed 5000S. When I am driving the car, I can look in the rear view mirror and see the road and not any intake plenuum. Very useful! ciao
