My 2013 458 spider is very ill - it has a problem starting, and I can't figure out what it is.

By problem: I mean that it simply won't start when I press the start button.

There's a swooshing sound - I don't really know how to describe the sound, like somebody taking in a breath of air, and, nothing else. The lights, radio, air conditioning all come on and work perfectly (battery tested and changed - no issues with the battery)- but the car simply won't start.

If I leave it for 1 day, it can start - then i'll drive it 20 minutes, stop the car, come back 30 minutes later, and it won't be able to start for another day.

No warning lights are on, or anything like that. Somebody mentioned it might be the immobilizer (??)

Would appreciate anybody who's experienced the same issues, or knows what might be wrong?

Wow a brand new 438 not starting? Yeah I would think immobilizer. Any special starting routine for your f1 tranny? Like step on brake and all that? Not that it takes you a day to remember ;) Good luck!

In fact if you try to fix the car, you might actually void the warranty on this issue.

Dealer --- that's what they are for and why you pay so much for a 2013.

The Mayor makes a good point about doing things to your car, that can void a warranty. Don't know if "high performance" chips are made by the after market , for Ferraris( I think they are). A few years ago I was talking with a service manager at a Ford dealership, a customer had recently brought in a fairly new truck, making bad sounds in the engine. Turned out, the customer had installed a aftermarket chip, had pulled it back out before bringing the truck to the dealer. With the sophisticated equipment dealer's now have, they were able to determine the truck had been "chipped", that voided the warranty. The repairs cost $7000.00, that was one very expensive chip!

Had the same problem it is the battery will not hold a charge. Would get a electrical system failure warning second try would start. Take it to the dealer and replace the battery. My car was also a 2013. Dealer told he had this problem before.

I have the same problem with my360 sometimes. For some reason the f1 tranny when parked stays in 1st gear when trying to start I simply just manually put it in neutral with the key on and it starts right up. If that doesn't do it I would have to agree the dealer would be my first stop.

DCT transmissions cannot be put into gear until the engine is running - Send the car to your to the local dealer, it could be a number of things (steering wheel start button, brake switch, battery etc.)
