Wow that's awesome! But that beast probably has some brakes and you do not burn inside it if the car rolls over: Countach is a widow maker without any brakes and a nightmare if the car rolls over... better do not forget this. So let's have a trip on that yellow monster! :)

    ciao

This is why I carry TWO USAG hammers in my Countach.

One is in the tool roll for looks the other us under my seat just in case I'm dumb enough to drive my car like an idiot and flip it.

I'm still working my way through this thread, since buying my LP400s2 (the coolest model...) last month.

Last night I got as far as the great low body measuring debate of 2010 ( http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/lamborghinichat-com-sponsored-lamborghini-houston/163765-countach-ultimate-supercar-373.html ). I didn't appreciate how recently this difference had still been debatable.

Anyway - I'm in the process of having a couple of cosmetic items tidied up. It's pretty much original and in good condition, but the rear wing is suffering from bubbling (again, I've now read a lot about this, and know it's very difficult to eradicate).

The shop (very experienced with CT) is recommending a replacement wing, ie new, aftermarket, which will look the same, but won't have same issues.

I bought the car to use, so that make sense, but at the same time I wouldn't want to do anything that would lake away from its future desirability. I'm currently planning to go for a new one and keep the original unrestored in case it's of use later.

    Any thoughts?

(I guess the answer is probably in the bits I haven't read yet..!)

Footsoldier, Mike used to be able to get the rear wings in carbon fibre. His black one has a CF wing on it. Looks good to me. As you say, replace it and keep the original.

I thought there was a conclusion that there were certain steps to prevent the bubbling?

Those don't look like Gotti wheels to me. I think they are 6 spoke Jongbloed magnesium race wheels.

Jongbloed rims.. Wow, not very common. They used to be very expensive.
I think their claim to fame was being very light because of magnesium.

Just to clear up any confusion, I bought DD 12078 in the summer of 1999. Yes, it was white then. It went through a 1,000 hr restoration, including a color change to red, and all the original DD USA hardware (aluminum air box, third brake light, side markers, box headers, cat exhaust, etc.) were removed or replaced with the correct European parts. This car was my DAILY driver from 2003 to 2013, and I put about 37K miles on it since the restoration. In 2013 it was sold by Gary Bobileff to a broker in FL, and then apparently went to Switzerland about a year later.

    Bob DeVries,
Prior owner and restorer of DD 12078

P.S. - Still have all the USA DD parts if anyone has any interest.

I know nothing about that car's rims, besides what I see in the image.
